Whether you’re trying to light up faraway landscapes or just a campsite, Fenix makes several lighting products that cater to various users.
Finding which light is right for you can feel overwhelming. Headlamps and flashlights can help you navigate a path safely, bike lights help you see and be seen, and lanterns cast heaps of light to prevent tripping over logs and guylines. Soft red lighting can help you see fellow campers without blinding them.
Once you decide on the type of light you want, you can dive into features like battery life and luminance.
Understanding the variety of lighting options can go a long way in making your next outdoor adventure a better experience. Below, we’ll run through several Fenix lighting options that can brighten up camps, hikes, runs, and rides.
PD36R PRO Rechargeable Flashlight
We crowned the Fenix PD36R Pro the Best Overall Flashlight for adding dual tail switches to the already great PD36R flashlight. The larger tail switch turns the light on and off while the other toggles through the five brightness modes. When the light is off, the smaller switch activates the strobe function for self-defense.
Those brightness modes range from 30 lumens to a blindingly bright 2,800 lumens. The latter turbo mode lets you see objects at 1,247 feet, which is beyond most use cases, but clutch when needed. Additionally, PD36R PRO can hold that brightness for 3.5 hours. Eco mode can run for 48 hours.
The flashlight has an IP68 waterproof rating, meaning it can stay underwater up to 6.5 feet for 30 minutes. It’s also dustproof and shock-resistant. It recharges via a USB-C port and has an LED for the battery level indicator next to it.
Overall, our testers found this flashlight easy to handle, even in the dark or with gloves, to quickly find the desired lighting setting.
PD25R Rechargeable EDC Flashlight
Another upgrade, the Fenix PD25R is the rechargeable version of the brand’s fan-favorite PD25 EDC flashlight. This flashlight cranks up to 800 lumens at 820 feet of distance, with four other brightness modes and a strobe function. It’s powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery or one CR123A battery. It uses a Luminus SST20 LED, which has a lifespan of 50,000 hours.
The tail cap switch turns it on or off and has a momentary-on function when you only need a temporary look. A side switch on the head lets you select the brightness modes.
As an everyday carry, this compact light is 3.6 inches long and has a durable aluminum body. A two-position clip lets you secure it to a pack, belt, or pocket. Its IP68 rating means it’s dust- and waterproof — you can even attach it to the brim of a ball cap to turn this small flashlight into a headlamp.
HM75R Rechargeable Headlamp
The Fenix HM75R Rechargeable Headlamp is a juiced-up take on the brand’s bestselling Fenix HM65R. It is rugged, packed with lighting modes, and lasts for hours.
It combines power from two sources: the headlamp’s included 18650 battery and a 21700 battery contained in an attached power bank. This creates a one-two punch for incredibly long runtimes. The max runtime for the floodlight is 234 hours and 365 hours when using the lowest red mode.
You can choose from 12 lighting modes, including four spotlight levels, four floodlight levels, and four red light modes. A rotary and button combo switch lets you select the lighting mode. It maxes out at 1,600 lumens with a beam distance of 732 feet.
The headlamp is impact-resistant to 2 m and completely waterproof.
Note: This headlamp doesn’t come with a USB-A to USB-C charging cord but can recharge with your own cable. Otherwise, the included extension cable in a Type-C port will work.
HM62-T Lightweight Headlamp
The streamlined Fenix HM62-T Lightweight Headlamp is compact and lightweight. It’s a general-use headlamp with four brightness levels that are easily accessed via its glove-friendly switch.
Hikers and runners will appreciate Fenix’s patented SPORT headband. The rotary dial on the back lets you get the fit just right.
You can recharge the headlamp by removing the battery and charging it via its built-in charging port with the included cable. There is also a battery level indicator, so you’ll always know the battery’s status.
BC26R Rechargeable Bike Light
Whether you ride trails in the city or singletrack, the Fenix BC26R bike light offers a wide beam to light your path.
It has a rechargeable 5,000mAh lithium-ion battery that pushes up to 1,600 lumens and can run up to 65 continuous hours on the lowest brightness level. A 100-degree floodlight beam can light things up well beyond the trail, which comes in handy on corners.
Fenix built this bike light to be dustproof, waterproof, and shockproof. A quick-release bike mount lets you take it with you.
BC05R V2.0 Rechargeable Bike Taillight
On a bike, being seen is often just as important as seeing where you’re headed. To help is this rechargeable bike taillight with six modes and up to 15 lumens of red light.
The built-in battery provides a maximum of 120 hours of runtime (in low-fast flash mode). That translates to roughly 2 months on a single charge if you commute 2 hours a day. When it’s time to recharge, it uses a Type-C port.
It has a clip to attach the light to your helmet, pocket, or backpack. It’s also rainproof and dustproof, with an IPX6 rating.
CL26R PRO Rechargeable Lantern
Camp lighting depends on what you’re up to. For cooking or organizing, you want brighter light in a focused area. For navigating a campsite safely, a lower, dispersed beam works.
The Fenix CL26R PRO Lantern lets you adjust your light to fit your needs. Nine lighting modes max out at high’s 500 lumens, which can illuminate 360 degrees up to 50 feet away.
If you need to work on something, the lantern’s magnetic top and forward-facing light can help you see what you’re doing. Likewise, a retractable hook and down-facing light deliver overhead illumination in a tent or from an overhanging branch. A red light mode saves the battery and your eyes at night.
Lastly, the CL26R PRO works as a 5,000mAh power bank for charging other devices.
Guided by Light
We’ve shown you a range of lighting options tailored to various outdoor activities. Some lights favor battery life over beam intensity, while others have several brightness modes for the utmost versatility.
A Fenix light can light the way for late-night adventures or dawn missions. And just in case you run into trouble, several lights have an ultra-bright mode or strobe function.
We’ve highlighted several of the newest lights from Fenix to show off all the options and hopefully give you an idea of the type of light you want.
