Discover the Proper Fenix Gentle for Your Journey

Whether you’re trying to light up faraway landscapes or just a campsite, Fenix makes several lighting products that cater to various users.

Finding which light is right for you can feel overwhelming. Headlamps and flashlights can help you navigate a path safely, bike lights help you see and be seen, and lanterns cast heaps of light to prevent tripping over logs and guylines. Soft red lighting can help you see fellow campers without blinding them.

Once you decide on the type of light you want, you can dive into features like battery life and luminance.

Understanding the variety of lighting options can go a long way in making your next outdoor adventure a better experience. Below, we’ll run through several Fenix lighting options that can brighten up camps, hikes, runs, and rides.

PD36R PRO Rechargeable Flashlight

Fenix PD36R PROFenix PD36R PRO

We crowned the Fenix PD36R Pro the Best Overall Flashlight for adding dual tail switches to the already great PD36R flashlight. The larger tail switch turns the light on and off while the other toggles through the five brightness modes. When the light is off, the smaller switch activates the strobe function for self-defense.

Those brightness modes range from 30 lumens to a blindingly bright 2,800 lumens. The latter turbo mode lets you see objects at 1,247 feet, which is beyond most use cases, but clutch when needed. Additionally, PD36R PRO can hold that brightness for 3.5 hours. Eco mode can run for 48 hours.

The flashlight has an IP68 waterproof rating, meaning it can stay underwater up to 6.5 feet for 30 minutes. It’s also dustproof and shock-resistant. It recharges via a USB-C port and has an LED for the battery level indicator next to it.

Overall, our testers found this flashlight easy to handle, even in the dark or with gloves, to quickly find the desired lighting setting.

Another upgrade, the Fenix PD25R is the rechargeable version of the brand’s fan-favorite PD25 EDC flashlight. This flashlight cranks up to 800 lumens at 820 feet of distance, with four other brightness modes and a strobe function. It’s powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery or one CR123A battery. It uses a Luminus SST20 LED, which has a lifespan of 50,000 hours.

The tail cap switch turns it on or off and has a momentary-on function when you only need a temporary look. A side switch on the head lets you select the brightness modes.

As an everyday carry, this compact light is 3.6 inches long and has a durable aluminum body. A two-position clip lets you secure it to a pack, belt, or pocket. Its IP68 rating means it’s dust- and waterproof — you can even attach it to the brim of a ball cap to turn this small flashlight into a headlamp.
