Drop-and-Go Bitter Cream Oatmeal Cookies: A Easy, Flavorful Deal with

Homemade cookies such as these sour cream oatmeal cookies are always wonderful to have on hand. Not only are they delicious and chewy, but baking them fills your home with the irresistible aroma of vanilla and cinnamon. Enjoy them with a cup of coffee or glass of milk, and these easy drop cookies are ideal for snacks or a dessert.

A Healthy Twist on a Classic Oatmeal Cookie Treat

This great cookie has oatmeal, which is an excellent source of soluble fiber. After all, soluble fiber is what can help lower cholesterol levels and improve heart health. In addition, oatmeal provides sustained energy due to its complex carbohydrates that are digested slowly. Another benefit of oatmeal is how satisfying this grain is to help you feel full from its protein, reducing your overall calorie intake.

Sour cream is another ingredient in these delicious drop cookies. The reason it is healthy is because it is a fermented dairy product with lactic acid bacteria (probiotics) added to make it and pasteurize the cream. The lactic acid bacteria help the gut bacteria for optimal digestion. Sour cream is also a moderate source of calcium for keeping bones and teeth strong.

These sour cream cookies with oatmeal also uses canola oil instead of shortening or butter because it has less saturated fat and is a good source of monosaturated fats for keeping the heart healthy.

Tips for the Best Sour Cream Oatmeal Cookies

You don’t need to firmly pack the brown sugar in your measuring cup for this recipe. These cookies are sweet enough, but you can pack if you want to increase their sweetness.

If your fork sticks after pressing the dough down when finishing these cookies, then keep a small cup of water handy. I dip my fork in it and it won’t stick when you return to pressing the dough down.
