Why These Sour Cream Cookies Are the Perfect Treat (Plus, They’re Healthy!)
Besides being incredibly scrumptious, these cinnamon sugar walnut cookies are better for your health, especially if you are monitoring your cholesterol levels. They avoid artery-clogging shortening and butter in this recipe and opt for canola oil that is lower in saturated fats, but high in monosaturated fats.
These are also sodium-free cookies. Believe it or not, I discovered that eliminating salt in most cookies, pies and cakes hardly matters for what those baked goods taste like.
Another reason this recipe for these walnut cookies with sour cream is outstanding is because also has less sugar than a lot of other cookies, which is better for your waistline. A lower calorie cookie means you don’t have to feel as guilty savoring that crunchy cookie with nuts.
Ease of preparation is another important quality about this recipe to love. Instead of following countless steps and procedures, you’ll just be chopping the nuts and mixing the ingredients together before rolling the dough into small balls to roll into the cinnamon sugar topping.
Still, there is more to love about these nutty cookies. These sour cream cookies freeze well without crumbling even when you just throw them in a zip-lock freezer bag. This means that you can make them ahead and always have a constant supply in the freezer for when your sweet tooth demands attention or when unexpected company arrives.
