Emirates has promoted regional sales director for the Eastern U.S. Matthew Jones to VP for all its U.S. operations, effective Nov. 1, the carrier announced Thursday.
The airline also promoted Essa Sulaiman Ahmad to SVP of commercial operations for West Asia and the Indian Ocean, based in Dubai. He most recently was divisional VP for the U.S. and Canada.
Shaz Peshiman will continue as a dedicated country manager for Canada, according to Emirates. Both Jones and Peshiman report to SVP of commercial operations west Thierry Aucoc.
In his new role, Jones will be responsible for Emirates’ commercial strategies in the U.S. and for “leading the airline’s operations, driving growth and strengthening the carrier’s footprint in both online and offline points,” according to the carrier. He also will “nurture relationships with our network of travel partners, including our codeshare partner United [Airlines],” Aucoc said in a statement.
Jones has been with the carrier since 2021. Emirates currently operates in 12 U.S. gateway cities.
