Espresso Wherever, Athletic Slippers, Jeep Coolers, and Extra Rising Gear

What’s better than camping in the snow? Doing it in style, of course! From the new winter gear dropped by NEMO to waterproof backpacks from Stone Glacier (not to mention birdwatching scopes), Emerging Gear is here to spill the tea on the latest and greatest outdoor products.

Whether you’re in the market for some cozy winter shoes or just looking for a superior bike mount for your smartphone, you’ll likely find something to sate your inner GearJunkie. Get your fix — then get outside!

Coffee Jack Portable Espresso Maker

Good morning, fellow caffeine addicts! If you hate instant coffee, but love espresso and camping, then you might find your new best friend with the Coffee Jack. This compact device, designed by former Dyson engineers and inspired by hydraulic car jacks, makes espresso on the go.

Achieving decent espresso requires 9 to 10 bars of pressure, a feat usually accomplished by large air compression machines. This little guy uses micro-hydraulic technology to generate pressure exceeding 9 bars within its small frame, yielding aromatic, crema-rich espresso shots, the company claims.

In comparison, traditional methods like French presses or Aeropresses offer 1-4 bars of pressure. With Coffee Jack, you just pump it 10 times and voilà! Get yours now for $140.

Faction x Elisabeth Garritzen Limited-Edition Skis

Faction Skis dropped the Mana 3 Elisabeth Gerritzen ski, making just 100 pairs in another limited-edition release.

This 112mm-waisted ski pays tribute to the talented Swiss freerider, who collaborated on the design with Swiss-born artist Flora Mottini, known for art with cartoon-inspired and psychedelic elements. The result is a beautiful pair of skis that will certainly turn heads on the slopes.

You can buy a pair (while supplies last) for $923. It’s available in 165 cm or 172 cm.

Ten Thousand Foundation Pant

Time to get sweaty? Ten Thousand designed its Foundation Pant to excel during intense lifting sessions. Crafted from Italian fabric, it boasts durability, withstanding over 95,000 rubs in abrasion testing. A four-way stretch ensures unrestricted movement, while ankle zips facilitate hassle-free transitions.

They’re also odor-resistant and come with dual front and back zip phone pockets. With a dual-wear drawcord system and upward-facing seams to prevent bar drag or rips, they look stylish and functional. Snag a pair for $118.

Arkfeld Pro Flat EDC Flashlight

With the Arkfeld Pro, Olight debuts its inaugural rechargeable flashlight. This baby comes with several options, including a 1,300-lumen white light, a 900mW UV light, and a Class 3R green laser.

For daily use, the white light offers illumination, while the laser proves handy for pet toys or presentations. Combining the white light and laser allows for precise targeting and enhanced brightness. The UV light simplifies stain detection tasks. This $100 flashlight is powered by a 1,500mAh lithium polymer battery, marking a significant 42.9% increase compared to its predecessor, the Arkfeld.

Peak Design Out Front Bike Mount V2

Peak Design recently unveiled the latest iteration of its Out Front Bike Mount. The V2 version, priced at $70, is now compatible with a wider range of handlebar sizes, including 35mm, which covers most mountain bikes, as well as 22.2mm, 25.4mm, and 31.8mm.

Constructed from aluminum, the Out Front Bike Mount ensures secure attachment of your phone to the handlebars. A simple press of a button allows for quick phone removal.

Designed to position your phone for easy viewing, it can also be adjusted to sit below or behind the handlebars for bike computers. The mount includes a thumbscrew for on-the-fly repositioning and an accessory mount for attaching a bike light or action camera.

Note that this product requires a Peak Design Case or Universal Adapter, sold separately.

Deckers X Lab MAX 40 SPSK

What do you get when you try to combine sneakers, slippers, and athletic shoes?

Evidently, you get the MAX 40 SPSK from Deckers X Lab. While they look like an odd duck, Deckers says they’re perfect for staying warm while kicking it in a winter wonderland. Priced at $275, these bad boys come in both tall and mid-height options.

The MAX 40 SPSK comes with 10mm shearling lining, a sheepskin upper, and an oversize midsole crafted from “next-generation super foam.” A Vibram outsole provides grip, and the shoes supposedly repel water to keep your toes dry.

NEMO Announces 2024 Gear Lineup

NEMO’s spring 2024 collection aims for the same quality camping gear with more focus on sustainability.

The Double Haul convertible duffel ($170-220, depending on size), made from 100% recycled fabrics, adapts from duffel to backpack or tote. The Endless Promise down sleeping bag seen above ($280-350) has new vents and waterproof materials while being fully recyclable.

Sleeping pads in the Tensor collection ($180-230) will keep you cozy while also using Bluesign-approved materials. Tents include the durable Mayfly OSMO ($400-460) with a recycled rainfly. The Moonlite Elite reclining backpacking chair ($180), weighing just 1 pound, 1 ounce, is exclusively available at REI from February through April.

Jeep Off-Road Cooler Collection

Igloo’s frequent collaborations are like those school lunchboxes you loved as a kid. The nostalgia can’t be avoided.

So it goes with its new Jeep Off-Road Cooler Collection. The lineup includes the Playmate Pal cooler (you remember those) priced at $40, with a 7-quart capacity, accommodating up to nine 12-ounce cans of … root beer? Or just a lunch, I suppose.

A Jeep Off-Road Square Lunch Cooler Bag, which costs $30, features off-road-inspired artwork, including the iconic Jeep grille and tire tracks in the mud. Then there’s the vacuum-insulated, stainless steel Jeep Off-Road 16 Oz Can, priced at $20, and with a tire track print.

Igloo may not be YETIi or Stanley, but you know what? Its products tend to be cheaper and — at least in my experience — get the job done.

Pentax PF-85EDA Spotting Scope

The new Pentax PF-85EDA spotting scope offers a compact telescope designed for birdwatching and other “observational activities.” With new optics, including an 85mm objective lens, it’s a great choice for getting a closer look at that ruby-throated warbler or sighting in a hunting rifle.

Thanks to a “roof prism design,” the scope is compact and portable. It’s supposedly durable and also works as a star-gazing tool for those who don’t want to haul a full telescope into the mountains. But it ain’t cheap. The scope costs $1,300, while a kit including an 8mm-24mm Zoom Eyepiece costs $1,600.

Stromer ST5 Pinion E-Bike

(Photo/Stromer Bike)

The e-bike craze cannot be stopped, as proven by yet another release — this time from Swiss bike maker Stromer.

With the ST5 Pinion, the company has made a sleek, modern bicycle with the Pinion gearboxes that might just be the death of derailleurs. In addition to a nine-speed Pinion C1.9i gearbox, the bike comes with a Gates carbon belt drive and 750W rear-wheel motor, offering an impressive battery range of 110 miles for pedal-assisted riding.

Now add an anti-lock braking system from Blubrake, an integrated Stromer Sound system, Supernova M99 Pro 2 lights, and cellular network connectivity for GPS localization, and what have you got? A pretty sweet ride.

Phantom Glide Nordic

Already know about Phantom Glide? The company built its name on single-application base treatment for skis and snowboards. Now, it’s expanding with Phantom Glide Nordic, designed specifically for Nordic skiing.

This addition offers an eco-conscious alternative to traditional ski waxes while catering to the demands of Nordic skiing, where exceptional glide is paramount, the company said.

The Nordic Glide will only be available through authorized dealers. To find some, visit the Phantom Glide website and order yours. Then simply apply once and glide forever.

Stone Glacier 2024 Product Lineup

Stone Glacier has unveiled its new 2024 products this month. The brand is known for its very lightweight load-hauling hunting packs. But now it also makes sleep systems, tents and shelters, and hunting gear. The new products include packs like the Tokeen 2600 backpack, apparel like the Helio Pullover, and accessories for hunting pack frames like a side pack and a tac weapons sling.

The Tokeen 2600 backpack ($350) is designed for backcountry scouting, day trips, or everyday use. This lightweight pack uses waterproof fabric and weighs just 2 pounds, 15 ounces. In addition to the new gear, Stone Glacier introduced additional color options across its existing products.
