A Dutch company has created a highly customisable Land Rover Defender 90 convertible for its European customers.
Heritage Customs, based in Enter, the Netherlands has released its Valiance Convertible. The remodelled Defender is available from €82,500 (AU$133,767), excluding local taxes.
“The Valiance Convertible has been designed, engineered and handcrafted in the Netherlands, representing all Heritage Customs knows about creating the world’s most stylish and elegant Defenders,” says Niels van Roij, co-owner of Heritage Customs.
“The coach built Valiance Convertible is the very essence of the Heritage Customs brand,” he added.
Over a three-step process the luxury SUV is converted from its hard roof to its new electric soft-top cover.
The company purchases the donor Defender 90 on behalf of its customers, and allows its clients to make changes to the original paintwork and interior trim including the dash coverings as well as minor cosmetic upgrades.
The cover, which is operated electronically via button switch, will need to be manually released using latches before it can be retracted.
The company doesn’t make any mechanical changes to the vehicle.
Along with chopping the roof off, Heritage Customs will install a roll cage, update the wheels and tyres, and add a Magic Metal finish to elements within the cabin.
The conversion can take up to three months to complete, not including any wait times for the donor vehicle.
Heritage Customs says during development of the prototype versions of the Valiance Convertible its customers were very eager to purchase the new adaptation to the 4X4.
“A number of our very loyal customers have immediately decided to purchase their coachbuilt Valiance,” said Heritage Customs co-owner Jan-Pieter Kroezen.
The company built three demonstrator models that feature a range of paint options including an electric blue that was inspired by the Mediterranean coast near the south east of France.
Another, named the Solihull Sand, pays tribute to the first Land Rover that came off the production line in 1948. It has green exterior paint, 20-inch white Space Cowboy forged alloy wheels, and a Spinneybeck leather interior.
Lastly, the Kokkini Paralia design is inspired by the archaeological site on the southwest coast of Santorini, which is known for its deep red rocks and cliffs.
This model has a dark matte red exterior paint with 22-inch Supersonic alloy wheels, sports seats, and a Spinneybeck leather interior.
Heritage Customs does also offer a range of customisable steering wheel, seat and rim options for customers who are looking to keep the roof on their Defenders.
In Australia, the cheapest Land Rover Defender 90 costs AU$80,540 before on-roads, or €54,668. And that’s for the entire car.
