Ram has announced 2023 will mark the end of production for the lairy 1500 TRX.
To send off the beefed-up supercharged V8-powered pickup, Ram will produce a Final Edition model, with only 4000 examples being available worldwide. Production is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Ram said this isn’t the end for the “TRX’s story”. That suggests a next-generation model is coming, potentially with some form of electrification.
The 1500 TRX has lived a short lifecycle, only debuting in 2020 and arriving here in 2022.
“This current chapter in Ram’s high-performance trucks is coming to a close, but it’s not the end of TRX’s story. While we’ll have more news to come at a later date, we’re proud to offer our loyal performance enthusiasts the very special TRX 6.2L Supercharged V8 – Final Edition,” said Stellantis Ram brand CEO Tim Kuniskis.
The Final Edition model has no changes to its 6.2-litre supercharged Hemi V8 engine, but does feature some cosmetic tweaks.
Ram has introduced three new, exclusive colours for the Final Edition, comprising Delmonico Red, Night Edge Blue, and Harvest Sunrise. A total of eight colours will be available.
There are also Satin Titanium wheels with bead-lock capability and a 6.2-litre bonnet badge and bed decal.
Inside, Ram has added Patina stitching on the dashboard and seats. A TRX logo is embroidered on the seatbacks, a Satin Titanium-finished badge is positioned on the passenger side of the dashboard, and the doors feature Triaxl suede inserts.
A TRX Supercharged V8 – Final Edition animation has been added to the instrument cluster and there’s a “premium” centre console which features a unique TRX Final Edition plague with the ute’s unique build number.
In addition, carbon fibre has been added to the instrument cluster, doors, centre console and steering wheel.
Ram includes a 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, head-up display, digital rear-view mirror and eight-way power driver and passenger seats as standard on the Final Edition model.
The Final Edition model comes standard with adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and rear cross-traffic assist.
Ram announced the Final Edition model will be priced from US$117,625 (AU$181,413) before on-road costs. It’s unclear how much it would cost here, should it be offered.
A spokesperson from Ram Australia told CarExpert its latest batch of 1500s has arrived into Australia for local conversion before being delivered to customers.
Australian availability for the special edition has yet to be confirmed.
Ram Trucks Australia first began selling its range of full-sized pickup trucks in Australia in 2015, which helped spark a trend for factory-backed, locally converted right-hand drive American pickups.
The Chevrolet Silverado followed later, while the Ford F-150 will arrive here this year and the Toyota Tundra is looking likely for a 2024 launch.
While the flagship TRX has a rival in the US in the shape of the V8-powered Ford F-150 Raptor R, it has no direct competition here.
