After a major update for 2022, the Nissan Frontier enters 2023 with only minor changes, most of which relate to the available features within its various trims. As before, the Frontier features a 310-hp 3.8-liter V-6 and nine-speed automatic transmission right out of the gate. It’s a solid pair for a mid-size truck with a starting sum of just over $30,000. Overall, the Frontier is a jack of many trades, but a master of none. Beneath its tough-looking design is a comparatively cramped cabin. While we appreciate its old-school hydraulic-assist steering, we wish its effort were lighter at low speeds. We also yearn for a telescoping steering column. As is, the Frontier’s column merely tilts. Stick to the lower-level trims, and this Nissan truck’s value more than offsets the issues it suffers relative to the competition. Head up the trim ladder, though, and your money is likely better spent elsewhere.
