Private aviation company Flexjet is on track to add 22
aircraft to its mid- and super midsized fleet this year, bringing that segment
to a total of 148 aircraft—more than double its size in 2018, the company
announced.
Growth in the fleet categories, which Flexjet said was key
to meeting coast-to-coast travel demand in North America, includes adding the
Embraer Praetor 600 to the North American fleet; the aircraft already has been
in Flexjet’s European fleet for two years. Flexjet also is adding the Bombardier
Challenger 3500 super midsized aircraft to its fleet, which helps offer
“mission versatility that is unmatched by any other private aviation
provider,” according to EVP of sales D.J. Hanlon.
The growth will bring Flexjet’s total global fleet to 270
aircraft, excluding helicopters, by the end of 2023, which also is more than
double 2018 levels, Flexjet said.
Additionally, Flexjet said it plans to hire an additional
1,400 employees this year, including 338 flight crew members and 338 aircraft
maintenance technicians. About 1,000 of those positions have been filled
throughout the first six months of the year, according to the spokesperson, and
Flexjet reported hiring 350 additional pilots in 2022. The spokesperson was not
able to provide a current number of total employees.
