Ford (+103.3%), Skoda (+86.4%) shine in market up 7.7% – Greatest Promoting Vehicles Weblog


Ford sales double year-on-year in June.

According to data by our local partners SEMO Cyprus and INNOSOFT, the Cyprus new car market is up 7.7% year-on-year in June to 1,102 sales, meaning the year-to-date tally is up 24.5% to 7,634 units halfway through the year. Four of the five top manufacturers beat the market with double-digit gains. Kia is up 33.1% to 20.1% share vs. 18.3% so far this year, Nissan gains 45.1% to 10.8% share vs. 6.1%, Hyundai soars 42.3% to 9.2% share vs. 6.9% and Ford surges 103.3% to 5.5% of the market vs. 2.5% YTD. In contrast Toyota (-29.5%) freefalls but still ranks #2 as it does year-to-date. MG (+450%) is up 19 spots on May to equal #10, with Porsche (+127.3%) and Skoda (+86.4%) also making themselves noticed.

Model-wise, the Kia Rio (+134.2%) takes the lead with 8.1% of the market, distancing the Hyundai Tucson (+247.6%) and Toyota C-HR (+41.2%). The Kia Sportage (+104%) and Nissan Juke (+69.6%) round out the Top 5 above the Nissan Qashqai (+116.7%) and X-Trail. The Kia Stonic (-50.7%) ensures the Top 8 is entirely composed of SUVs. The Ford Kuga (estimated #12) and Cupra Formentor (#14) also impress.
