From components to efficiency, I acquired to construct my very own Axis 2 rifle on the Savage Arms manufacturing facility

From parts to performance, I got to build my own Axis 2 rifle at the Savage Arms factory

Just about the time I am getting acquainted with the latest and greatest rifles from Savage Firearms they are already announcing something new!  I barely have time to enjoy and test the current products before they have new stuff hitting the market. Well, they just did it again!  Coming off the heels of a successful KLYM and Ultra Lite Elite launch they just announced the completely new lineup of AXIS rifles.

I had the good fortune of heading to the factory in Westfield, MA and got to tour the factory, see all the new rifles firsthand and build my own rifle on the line.  A truly unique experience and one that I will not soon forget.  It was so encouraging to see the hard work, attention to detail and passion every single person had working in the factory.  It was very easy to see that this was not just a “job” to them.  They truly care about the products they are putting out and had a great sense in pride in their craftsmanship and the brand itself.  They have several employees who are at or even above the half century mark!  That speaks volumes about the type of company they are and continue to evolve into.

This latest launch of products was a very robust undertaking and brought to market a slew of innovations to the AXIS rifle line.  This included five new or updated models that cater to a diverse audience of hunters and shooters.  The AXIS XP, AXIS 2, AXIS 2 XP HARDWOOD and the AXIS 2 PRO all bring something new and improved to the woods and the range.

Savage has consistently been showing customers that these aren’t your old Grandads rifles that fall into the classification of a “Budget Friendly” rifle and nothing more.  They have been working hard to be at the forefront of innovation and rifle technology and each new product they launch is a testament to the quality and precision that they are striving to achieve.  While the AXIS rifles are some of the more affordable rifles in their lineup it certainly doesn’t mean you are getting a subpar rifle.  The new AXIS rifles sport some of the same components and features that their top end rifles have, while still maintaining a very desirable and palatable price point.

With 5 new or updated models there is a ton to go over which is why I was glad I was out at the factory and was able to hear it directly from the team.  No matter what type of hunter or shooter you are you will be able to find a particular rifle and caliber that best suits you need.  I’ll let the guys walk you through the details and get into the weeds a little bit…

I am thoroughly excited to get my new AXIS in the deer woods this fall!   For more information on any of the new AXIS rifles or any of Savages other great products head over to Savagearms.com and check them out!

Andy has been a lifelong Outdoorsman and has hunted and fished all over the world but his home state of Michigan is near and dear to his heart. He grew up fishing the Great Lakes and mostly hunted waterfowl and small game until his teenage years when he quickly became an avid big game hunter and embraced the art of long range shooting. With the help of several long range courses he has become proficient at shooting out to 1,000 yards with his longest confirmed shots being in excess of 1,700 yards. He has hunted North America from the northernmost parts of Alaska to the southernmost parts of Florida and everywhere in between. He has even made the trip across the pond several times to hunt in Africa. When he is not hunting or fishing he is coaching travel softball and watching his two daughters play the sports they love. In between hunts and when they have a break from sports he and his family enjoy spending time outdoors in the beautiful state of Michigan skiing, boating and camping.
