The first impression I had when unboxing the SITKA Grindstone Jacket was that it felt sturdy. I held it up and was impressed by the ruggedness of the material, the tightness of the seams, and the overall weight of the garment. The latest version of this jacket is an updated iteration of the enduring, hardworking jacket that’s been available for years. The new Grindstone retains its Primaloft Silver insulation which keeps the person inside the jacket toasty warm and the WINDSTOPPER 100% windproof protection. But in addition to those longstanding features, this version has an exceptionally durable laminated fabric – a special result of a collaboration between Gore and Cordura.

The SITKA Grindstone Jacket is described in marketing copy as “a rugged and versatile outerwear option designed for every outdoor enthusiast.” The only catch here is that the SITKA Grindstone Jacket isn’t made for women, it only comes in men’s sizing. So my task was to see if it could work comfortably and efficiently for a woman’s body. The answer is yes. has
It is a comfortable jacket that fits the way a unisex jacket would. I’m curvy, but nothing about this jacket held me back from any chore I attempted while wearing it. I still stacked wood, dragged a deer, cleaned my gun, and took out the trash, just as I would with a women’s fit jacket. I stayed dry and cozy during every minute of it.
The SITKA Grindstone has all the essential features you’d expect, including a full front zipper, multiple pockets for gear storage, and an adjustable hood for added protection. What I loved most was the pockets. The pockets are deep, closeable, and well-placed. The chest pockets feature a magnet closure, and the side hand pockets have zippers. My cell phone fits comfortably inside without hanging out making me nervous it might fall and get lost. It comes in three colors: hemlock green, obsidian, and pyrite. Mine was the obsidian color and I loved it. It was very forgiving of the daily grime that accumulates when you wear a jacket for work and daily living. It is available in sizes from small to XXL.
