How We Tested

We tested the Oboz Bridger WP on a variety of day hikes in central Washington. The testing conditions included snowy trails, muddy paths, rocky scrambles, and water crossings. Over several weeks, these boots were evaluated for traction, stability, waterproofing, and overall durability in challenging and diverse trail environments.

Comfort

The Oboz Bridger WP boots prioritize durability and support over immediate comfort. During our testing, it took around 8-12 miles of hiking to break them in adequately.

Traction

The Oboz Bridger WP hiking boots have a deep, aggressive lug pattern and a Granite Peak carbon rubber outsole. The boots maintained excellent grip and stability during testing on rocky trails, loose gravel, and muddy paths. However, the lug depth collected mud and snow very quickly, sometimes weighing the boots down.

The deep, multidirectional lugs extend to the sides of the sole, offering reliable traction regardless of how your foot strikes the ground. On steep inclines and descents, the Bridgers felt secure and slip-resistant, but they were prone to slipping in some wet conditions (mud and snow).

The sturdy toe cap was a nice protective touch on rocky scrambles, protecting toes from impacts while maintaining grip. Whether you’re crossing a creek or tackling a scree field, these boots have durable and stable traction. 

Weather Resistance

The Oboz Bridger WP boots offer excellent waterproofing, keeping feet dry even during water crossings, snow, and heavy rain. Constructed with Nubuck leather uppers and a waterproof membrane, they effectively block out water and dirt.

In our tests, they performed well when crossing flowing water, hiking in snow, and standing water with no moisture seeping through when below the tongue and laces.
