A Google Maps vehicle driver has been arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase in the U.S. state of Indiana.
The Middletown Police Department arrested the man, identified as Coleman Ferguson, who is now facing felony charges for “resisting law enforcement with a vehicle” after allegedly travelling at speeds over 160km/h in front of a high school.
Mr Ferguson allegedly said he worked for Google and was scared to stop.
The car in question was a Honda HR-V which was equipped with several 360-degree cameras mounted on a tall antenna on top of the car.
A police officer was able to catch up to the driver, who Middletown PD allege was still traveling at high speeds and refusing to stop.
The vehicle allegedly continued to travel several kilometres into Madison County.
Police allege the driver slowed down for a red light, but then blew through it.
After attempting to change directions due to a bridge closure, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it plunged into a creek.
Police escorted the driver out of the vehicle and placed him in custody.
The driver was taken to hospital for medical clearance before being transported to the Henry County Jail.
