Goosebumps Monster Milkshake – A Lovely Mess

Reader, beware: You’re in for a scare. This year, I had so much fun making some creepy recipes for kids including this Goosebumps-inspired milkshake and my Vampire Milkshake. It’s all in good fun and this time of year my children love trying these creepy recipes.

During spooky season, I will use any and all excuses to use eyeball sprinkles. They are a staple and I can find a way to use them on almost any recipe.

Monster Milkshake Ingredients

  • White candy melts – I only buy white candy melts now instead of colors and use food dye to change the colors (easier and less waste).
  • Green food color – I like to use gel food coloring.
  • Eyeball Sprinkles – I like to collect a lot of different sizes to mix.
  • Ice Cream – Vanilla
  • Milk – Use any milk you have on hand.
  • Green popcorn – I love this for a bubbling over effect (available here)
  • Halloween Candy – For garnish, I chose an assortment of eyeballs, fingers, teeth and brains (you know, all the basics!).

Directions

Begin by microwaving the candy melts in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until they are fully melted. Next, add green food dye and mix until you have achieved your perfect slime green color.

Next, use a spoon to add green chocolate to the outside of a glass to resemble slime oozing out from the glass. While the chocolate melts are still hot, add as many candy eyeballs as you can fit. Do this twice for two glasses.

To make the milkshake, blend your ice cream, milk and more green food dye in a blender until it is very smooth. Pour the milkshake into two glasses.

To garnish, add some green popcorn to the top of your milkshake, a straw and some Halloween candies arranged on a cocktail pick.

Tips for Making

  • Halloween milkshakes are a great chance to get creative! I like milkshakes that are a big presentation and over the top with garnishes, so go wild.
  • Halloween is the best time of year for candy. Choose a variety of funny, novelty candies. I love these monster lollipops.
  • I only buy white chocolate melts for making colors because it’s so much easier (and creates less waste) than buying individually colored candy melts.
