Gran Turismo 7 online game will get digital actuality, AI with replace

A new update for Gran Turismo 7 players will go live imminently with the software company dropping a few upgrades including VR integration support for its players.

The update is set to go live tonight – depending on where you are in the world – and will include support for Playstation’s VR2 hardware.

Players can now use the virtual reality headset in all race and game modes with the exception of two-player split screen.

Users who have the VR2 headset will now also be able to experience a VR showroom feature within the Garage area.

VR support is for Playstation 5 console versions only.

Developers have also added five new cars to the line-up including:

  • 1970 Citroën DS 21 Pallas
  • 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS (901)
  • 1965 Honda RA272
  • Italdesign EXENEO Vision Gran Turismo Street Mode
  • Italdesign EXENEO Vision Gran Turismo Off-road Mode

The ‘Grand Valley Highway 1’ track has returned with the option of Highway 1 and South layouts to choose from.

The circuit is 5099m in length and has 18 corners with a 97m elevation difference across the course.

The update will also feature a ‘Drift Stage’ as well as the ability to move the camera up and down to snap a photo of the car.

Players who haven’t used this feature will be offered a tutorial and guide during the first play after the update is installed.

Lastly, the introduction of ‘GT Sophy’ allows players to race against an artificial intelligence (AI) collaboration with Sony AI, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Polyphony Digital in 1-vs-1 racing, or opt to compete across various different difficulty levels across four tracks to battle out who is the best driver.

‘GT Sophy’ will be available for a limited time until late March 2023.
