The Opel Corsa is #1 in Greece for the 2nd time this year.
New car sales in Greece shoot up 58% year-on-year in March to 13,284 units, leading to a Q1 tally up 50.6% to 33,772. Brand leader Toyota (+46.8%) trails the market but still signs a robust lift to remain in pole position with 11.9% share. It distances Opel (+160.1%) up two spots on February to #2 and Volkswagen (+65.6%) up four to #3. Citroen (+240.1%) delivers the largest year-on-year uptick in the Top 15 but drops one rank on last month to #4. BMW (+108.5%), Suzuki (+82%) and Ford (+68.7%) stand out whereas Kia (+34.3%), Hyundai (+8.7%) and last month’s leader Peugeot (-12.2%) underperform. Alfa Romeo (+585.7%), Seat (+271.8%), Cupra (+258.6%), Tesla (+220%), Jaguar (+200%) and Dacia (+183.7%) all post surreal gains further down.
Model-wise, the Opel Corsa (+282.2%) scores a 2nd win this year and cements its year-to-date domino with 7.3% of the market so far in 2023. The Toyota Yaris Cross (+381.9%) is up to a record #2 and delivers its third Greek podium finish after January and November 2022 when it ranked #3 both times. In 1st place last month, the Citroen C3 (+213.9%) falls to #3 and ranks #2 over Q1. The Opel Crossland (+305.2%) is up 11 spots on February to land at #4, a new record for the nameplate smashing its previous best of #10 reached in January 2022. The Toyota C-HR (+23%) is up two ranks to #5 above the Peugeot 208 (-31.1%) leader a year ago, the VW T-Roc (+78.9%) and the BMW X1 (+137.4%).
