The U.S. General Services Administration for fiscal year 2024 increased its standard allowable per diem rates for federal travelers by $9 to $166, GSA announced Wednesday.
The increase is due to a $9 year-over-year increase in the lodging allowance to $107. The standard allowable rate for meals and incidentals held steady at $59 per day.
The per diem is the maximum allowance that federal employees are reimbursed for expenses incurred while traveling in U.S. areas not designated as “non-standard areas,” which have per diems higher than the standard rate. In fiscal 2024, there will be 302 such non-standard areas, and each will have a lodging rate at or above 2023 levels.
The rate takes effect Oct. 1, 2023, through Sept. 30, 2024.
