High Issues to Do in Philadelphia in September 2023 — Go to Philadelphia

September offers a choose-your-own adventure in Philadelphia. The not-quite-summer but not-quite-autumn month offers plenty of opportunities for residents and visitors to savor the dwindling days of the summer season or lean fully into fall fun.

The month begins with the massive Made in America Festival on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway over Labor Day weekend. This year features a star-studded lineup headlined by megastars Lizzo and SZA.

Mid-September marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, and Philly goes big to celebrate the occasion with cultural celebrations like the Mexican Independence Day Festival at Penn’s Landing and the Puerto Rican Day Parade on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Late September sees the arrival of fall stapes like Pumpkinland at Linvilla Orchards, Halloween Nights at Eastern State Penitentiary and the Philadelphia Fall Arts Fest at the Kimmel Center.

Also happening in September: Center City District Restaurant Week, the Kennett Square Mushroom Festival and Opera Philadelphia’s Festival O23.

With so much happening in September, you’re gonna wanna stay over. Book the Visit Philly Overnight Package and score great perks (like two tickets to two tickets to The Franklin Institute), free hotel parking (valued up to $100) and a bed you don’t have to make. Want to make a weekend out of it? The Visit Philly 3-Day Stay package is a straightforward steal: Buy two nights and get your third night for free.
