Hilton Honors often runs interesting promotions for its members to earn more points and qualifying nights on stays.
It’s now possible to register for the upcoming Summer 2024 “Double Points” global promotion. This time, you’ll earn double points on every eligible stay from May 2–September 2, 2024.
As a reminder, the Winter 2024 “Points Plus” promotion is ongoing, and you can earn up to 2,500 points per stay through to May 1, 2024.
Hilton Honors Summer 2024 Promotion: “Double Points”
Hilton’s Summer 2024 promotion is called “Double Points”, and you’ll earn double Hilton Honors points on eligible stays from May 2–September 2, 2024.
You can now register for the promotion on the Hilton website, and once it goes live, you’ll earn double points equal to the base points earned on your stay.
There’s no limit as to how many points you can earn from stays, and all properties under the Hilton portfolio count.
As long as you’ve registered for the promotion, any stays booked before registration are eligible for the extra points. Your check-out date must fall between May 2 and September 2, 2024 to be eligible for the bonus points.
For reward bookings, you’ll still earn bonus points for each eligible stay of this promotion, as long as you earn base points as part of your stay.
This promotion has the potential to be quite lucrative, especially if you book cash stays at higher-end properties and leverage your status and credit card earning rates.
Hilton Honors Winter 2024 Promotion: “Points Plus”
As a reminder, Hilton’s ongoing Winter 2024 promotion is called “Points Plus”, and you can earn up to 2,500 Hilton Honors points on eligible stays from January 1–May 1, 2024.
The current promotion is structured as follows:
- Earn 2,000 Hilton Honors points per eligible stay
- Earn 500 Hilton Honors points per eligible stay when you use Digital Key
To earn the bonus points for using a Digital Key,you’ll just need to make use of the Digital Key at least once during your stay.
However, you’ll first need to register for the promotion on the landing page, and then you’ll enjoy bonus points for stays during the promotional period.
There’s no limit as to how many points you can earn from stays, and all properties under the Hilton portfolio count.
As long as you’ve registered for the promotion, any stays booked before registration are eligible for the extra points. Your check-out date must fall between January 1 and May 1, 2024 to be eligible for the bonus points.
For reward bookings, you’ll still earn bonus points for each eligible stay of this promotion, as long as you earn base points as part of your stay.
It’s worth noting that this is one of the weaker promotions we’ve seen in the past year. However, if you have any stays coming up over the winter and early spring, you may as well register for the promotion.
How To Maximize the “Double Points” Promotion
If you have any stays with Hilton over the spring and summer months, you’ll want to make sure you’re maximizing your earnings, especially with the opportunity to earn double points at play.
For example, if you book at a Hilton property, for every US dollar you spend that earns base points, you can earn the following:
- 10 base points as a Hilton Honors member
- 10 points with the Double Points promotion
- Bonus points for having Hilton Honors elite status:
- Points earned for using your Hilton Honors credit card at an eligible property:
That works out to up to 44 Hilton Honors points per dollar spent: 10 base points as a Hilton Honors member, 10 points with the Double Points promotion, 10 points with Hilton Diamond status, and 14 points by paying with an Aspire card.
At our current valuation of 0.5 cents per point (USD) or 0.7 cents per point (CAD), you could also view this as a 22% return, which is a pretty great deal.
Of course, not everyone has the Aspire Card — even with annual credits, it’s a steep annual fee to swallow when you consider other premium cards on the market.
Alternatively, if you have a Canadian-issued American Express Platinum Card or Business Platinum Card from American Express, and a lower-tier American Express US Hilton credit card, you’ll earn the following:
- 10 base points per US dollar spent as a Hilton Honors member
- 10 points with the Double Points promotion
- 8 bonus points for having Hilton Honors Gold status (which you get as an Amex Platinum cardholder)
- 12 points for using your Hilton Honors Surpass or Business Card at a co-branded property
A total of 40 Hilton Honors points per dollar spent is equivalent to a 20% return on your stays, and it’s almost the same rate as you’d get with the Aspire Card.
With returns of up to 22% via this promotion, this is a good opportunity to make a cash booking for an upcoming trip in the busy summer travel season. You can then save the points you’ll earn for a future award redemption or for when the active promotions aren’t as favourable.
Saving your points would certainly be a better choice if you’re working towards an aspirational Hilton redemption with a high points cost, especially since Hilton Honors points aren’t as easy to come by as other hotel rewards from a Canadian perspective.

Conclusion
The Hilton Honors Summer 2024 “Double Points” promotion is now open for registration, valid for stays from May 2–September 2, 2024. For each stay completed during the promotional period, you’ll earn double base points, which can lead to a strong return on spending.
There’s no downside to registering for this promotion, so be sure to consider Hilton properties if you have some hotel stays coming up over the fall and winter months to score some extra points.
Just make sure to register for the promotion first, and then plan your upcoming stays accordingly to maximize its potential.
