Honda (+82%) shines, Fiat Strada again to #1 – Greatest Promoting Vehicles Weblog


The Honda HR-V is inside the Brazilian Top 10 in August.

New light vehicle sales in Brazil edge up just 1.4% year-on-year in August to 196,878 units. This means the year-to-date tally is now up 10.9% to 1,347,065. Fiat (+2.8%) doubles the market growth to easily remain in the lead of the brands charts with a splendid 23.1% share (vs. 10.7% at home in Italy). Chevrolet (-3%) is back above Volkswagen (-11.7%) but the latter is still ahead year-to-date for just 428 sales. Toyota (+17.3%) reclaims the 4th spot it holds year-to-date off Hyundai (-11.7%), in difficulty. Jeep (-0.1%) is stable and gains one rank on July to #6 ahead of a freefalling Renault (-23.5%). Honda (+82%) and Nissan (+22.1%) lodge the two best upticks in the Top 10, with Volvo (+141.4%), Ram (+95.1%), Land Rover (+65.8%), Porsche (+44.6%), Mercedes (+36.5%), Ford (+26%) and Citroen (+15%) also impressive below. Chinese newcomers BYD (#16) and GWM (#17) exchange spots vs. July.

The Fiat Strada (-9.1%) frankly reclaims the top spot in the models charts with 6.5% share vs. 4.2% for the #2, the Chevrolet Onix (-15%). The VW Polo (+6223.1%), leader for the past two months, drops to #3, a ranking it also holds year-to-date. The Hyundai HB20 (-26.2%), Chevrolet Onix Plus (-21.3%) and Fiat Mobi (-13.4%) are all in a rut as is the Chevrolet Tracker (-5%) despite climbing back up 5 spots on July to #7 overall. The Honda HR-V (+1088.3%) is boosted up to #9 by the new generation. Below, the Fiat Cronos (+35.6%), VW Nivus (+46%), Saveiro (+62%) and Virtus (+746.6%) make themselves noticed. The GWM Haval H6 is up to #40, the BYD Song Plus up to #49 and the BYD Dolphin up to #60.
