How Hyundai goals to fulfill Ioniq 5 demand

Hyundai Australia has announced it’s listing a range of used Ioniq 5 electric vehicles (EVs) on its website, with plans to expand the program.

An initial batch of 23 ex-company and customer Hyundai Ioniq 5 EVs are now available to be purchased on the Hyundai Australia website. They’re for buyers in Sydney only, though.

Hyundai Australia has indicated the pre-owned Ioniq 5s will be “sharply priced” and not be subject to large mark-ups due to high demand.

All the pre-owned vehicles are pre-checked before being listed for sale, with either the balance of the registration remaining or a new 12-month registration.

The majority of the used Ioniq 5s have mileage that’s under 10,000km, with all of them having mileage under 20,000km.

Local supply of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 has outstripped demand ever since it first went on sale in October 2021.

The last drop of the Ioniq 5 was in February 2023 and consisted of 170 new models – 48 Dynamiqs, 68 Techniqs and 54 Epiqs. The batch of vehicles also included the Ioniq 6 for the first time.

As previously reported, the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 received a bump in power and range plus a new ride and handling package.

Pricing for the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is as follows:

  • 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Dynamiq RWD: $72,000
  • 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Techniq AWD: $79,500
  • 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Epiq AWD: $85,000

All prices exclude on-road costs.

For the first two months of 2023, Hyundai sold a total of 176 Ioniq 5 models. It was outsold by the likes of the Tesla Model 3 (5598 sales), Tesla Model Y (1231 sales), and the BYD Atto 3 (1037 sales).

The Ioniq 5 did manage to outsell its Kia EV6 (84 sales), and the Genesis GV60 (41 sales) platform-mates, however.
