Why Make This Peanut Butter Scone Recipe With Chocolate Chips
- First of all, the family and your friends will love how delicious these small quick breads are.
- Secondly, this recipe couldn’t be any simpler. You just mix all the ingredients together, pat into a thick circle and cut before placing a greased cookie sheet to bake. Making these peanut butter scones takes about five to seven minutes to prepare before baking. What seems the hardest work is waiting for these scones to come out of the oven once that yummy aroma of peanuts starts drifting through your home.
- Thirdly, scones are ideal for anyone craving a sweet baked dessert that has fewer calories than ones such as cakes, pies, doughnuts, and cookies.
- Fourthly, you have options for the sizes and style of these scones. You can pat them into a circle and cut into wedges. However, you can also roll them into small one inch balls and bake them as well to control your portion size.
Tips for the Best Scones Ever
It helps to line up all the ingredients you need first. This only takes about a minute or two, but speeds the process and keeps you from forgetting something.
Accurate measurements are important for turning out the best results. Use your measuring cups and spoons because those little differences if you’re relying on silverware and cups from your dinnerware can affect your baking.
You have options with the variety of molasses you use. You can go with light, dark or even black-strap molasses, depending on what you have at home.
The same thing goes for peanut butter. I usually buy creamy variety of peanut butter so that is what I use for baking. But if you have crunchy peanut butter, your scones will just have a bit more chew to them.
For the ultimate quality of scones, do not overwork the dough. You just want to mix enough to incorporate the ingredients. Over handling the dough could result in a tougher scone.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Scones
2-1/4 cups of sifted flour
3 tablespoons of molasses
3 tablespoons of creamy peanut butter
1/3 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 large egg
1/3 cup of canola oil
1/4 cup of sugar
2 ½ teaspoons of baking powder, leveled
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/3 cup of milk
In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, molasses, peanut butter, chips, egg, oil, sugar, baking powder, salt, and milk and mix until all the ingredients are blended in and moistened. Do not overwork the dough.
Pat down the dough to form a somewhat thick circle about eight inches around and two inches high. Then cut in half, then divide each half into thirds before placing a greased baking pan.
Bake in a 350-degree oven for about 15 minutes for the thickness of my scones, depending on the how fat of a thickness of the scones and how your oven is regulated. They will slightly brown around the edges.
