Hyundai and Accent preserve lead, Ford surges in market up 5.7% – Finest Promoting Automobiles Weblog

The Hyundai Accent is the best-selling vehicle in Vietnam in February.

According to local automotive association VAMA, new vehicle sales in Vietnam edge up 1% year-on-year in February to 23,040 units. However a disastrous January result means the year-to-date tally is down -24.6% to 40,354. If we add non VAMA members (Hyundai and some of VinFast sales), the figures climb to 28,923 for the month (+2.8%) and 50,091 year-to-date (-26.8%). However VinFast recently stopped sharing sales data, so likes for likes the market is up 5.7% in February (28,507) and down -24.3% year- to-date (49,317).

Hyundai (+31%) surges up to hold onto the brands top spot with an outstanding 18.9% share. In fact the entire Top 5 is unchanged on January, with Toyota (+14%) also in excellent shape at #2, Thaco-Kia (-41%) in freefall at #3, Ford (+392.9%) literally flying at #4 and Mazda (+0.7%) only edging up at #5. Mitsubishi (+35.5%) climbs one spot to #6, overtaking Honda (-24.3%) in trouble like it is in most worldwide markets. Suzuki (+34.6%) and Isuzu (+16.4%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10.

Model-wise, the podium frankly outraces the overall growth. The Hyundai Accent (+56.2%) stays at #1 with 5.4% share, the Mitsubishi Xpander (+74.3%) is up four spots on January to #2 and the Ford Ranger (+429.6%) soars thanks to the new generation but drops one rank on last month to #3. The Toyota Corolla Cross (-20.1%) is down on a particularly strong year-ago volume when it ranked #1 overall. The Hyundai Creta (#5) hits its highest ranking since last October and tops recent launches ahead of the Toyota Veloz (#8) and Ford Territory (#14). The Ford Everest (+713.8%) and Toyota Raize (+46.1%) also impress.
