Alterra Mountain Company, owner of the Ikon pass, announced today a “Kids Ski Free Week” at 15 North American ski resort destinations. Every day between Sunday, Dec. 7, and Friday, Dec. 13, kids under 12 are eligible for a free lift ticket at participating mountains.
If you’re planning a ski trip with the family, this might be one of the best times all season to hit the slopes.
“Winter is here and we want to help families get on the mountain this season,” Jared Smith, president and CEO of Alterra Mountain Company, said in a press release. “We hope Kids Ski Free Week ignites an excitement around skiing and snowboarding and helps start a lifelong passion the entire family can enjoy for years to come.”
During Kids Ski Free Week, you can get your child’s ticket online or at a Guest Services office at any of the 15 participating resorts. Alterra notes in its press release that no purchase is necessary to redeem this offer, though rentals and lessons are not included.
Kids Ski Free Week: Participating Mountains
The 15 resorts that are participating in Alterra’s Kids Ski Free Week span the corporation’s North American destinations, from California to Vermont and Ontario.

What’s more, day passes for kids under 12 are discounted at all of these resorts all winter long. At Winter Park, kids’ day passes start at $69. At Palisades Tahoe, they start at $75. And at Deer Valley, they start at $148.
However, these and many other resorts participating in Kids Ski Free Week use dynamic pricing. So, based on demand, the cost of a day pass fluctuates throughout the season.
If you have skiers or riders under 12 (or under 17 at Switzer and Stratton mountains), Kids Ski Free Week is an opportunity to save hundreds of dollars on day passes.
