InterContinental Hotels Group plans to open several new hotels
this year, including within key corporate markets, the company announced late
last week.
IHG’s upcoming hotel openings include the Kimpton Hotel Theta in
New York and InterContinental Bellevue in Washington, both slated for the fall,
according to the company.
Outside the U.S., IHG plans a Holiday Inn & Suites Geelong in
Australia to open this month and InterContinental Chiang Mai the Mae Ping in
Thailand in the fourth quarter.
IHG this summer has opened Voco Fiorello LaGuardia East adjacent
to New York’s LaGuardia Airport, Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya in Japan, Hotel
Indigo Melbourne on Flinders in Australia and Hotel Indigo Guadalajara Expo in
Mexico.
IHG has one of the
largest global hotel construction pipelines as of the second quarter, according
to Lodging Econometrics, behind Hilton Worldwide and Marriott
International. According to the report, IHG has 1,764 projects and 259,668
rooms in the global construction pipeline. Together with Hilton and Marriott,
the three hotel companies represent 50 percent projects in the global
construction pipeline, according to Lodging Econometrics.
