IHG Hotels & Resorts this month has opened three hotels in Germany under its new midprice conversion brand Garner through a previously announced partnership with German hotel operator Novum Hospitality, the company announced, The three Garner properties are the first for the brand outside of the Americas.
IHG and Novum earlier this year agreed to convert scores of Novum-operated hotels to IHG-branded properties during the next five years. Among them, 56 Novum properties, both in the pipeline and operating under Novum brands including Yggotel, Select and Novum, would convert to Garner properties. The first three, in Hamburg, Elmshorn and Augsburg, have opened in the past 10 days, according to IHG.
Most of the remaining Garner conversions will take place by mid-2025, Novum chief executive officer and owner David Etmenan said in a statement.
IHG first announced plans for Garner in August 2023. The company on Monday said it has more than 90 Garner properties open or in the development pipeline, including expansion to Japan.
