JAL Unveils New Cabin Designs

Japan Airlines on Monday revealed the new Airbus A350-1000 aircraft cabin interiors that will become the airline’s new flagship for international service, the carrier announced. The launch of the aircraft and cabins is planned for before the end of the year on the Tokyo Haneda-New York John F. Kennedy Airport route.

All cabins will have redesigned seats with high-resolution 4K monitors, and customers can connect their own listening devices via Bluetooth. The aircraft will include 239 seats in total.

First (six suites) and Business (54 seats) classes will have fully private environments with doors, a headphone-free stereo with built-in headrest speakers, and a wardrobe and storage space. First seats will have three modes: sofa, seat, and single bed or double bed. Business class will have seat and bed modes.

Premium Economy (24 seats) will have “enhanced privacy and comfort” with “larger partitions” and an adjustable leg rest. Economy (155 seats) will feature “spacious seating and ample legroom” with seat width of approximately 18 inches and seat pitch of 33 to 34 inches.

JAL also is updating its meal service for each cabin, providing new amenity kits for First and Business, and will provide “relaxing wear” to First-class customers and make it available for rental for Business-class customers.
