I’ve long been acquainted with Jenni Kayne’s sweaters (see Well+Good editors’ emphatic endorsement of Jenni Kayne’s internet-viral Cocoon Sweater). However, it wasn’t until acquiring one of my own—the Jenni Kayne Cashmere Half-Zip (now $396)—that I fully understood its cult appeal. Yes, the cashmere is kitten-soft, and yes, it’s as cozy as many people claim it to be. Much to my wallet’s chagrin, Jenni Kayne has won me over, just like it did with Well+Good staffers and celebrities like Emma Stone, Jennifer Garner, and Jessica Alba.
Lucky for all of us—it’s 20 percent off now, alongside the entire site, including bestselling knits, shoes, and outerwear.
Why I love my Jenni Kayne Cashmere Half-Zip
The Cashmere Half Zip is a cool $495, quadruple of what I’d usually consider paying for a cashmere knit. But it’s so plush, cozier than any of the other sweaters in my closet. The luxurious cashmere, both comfortable and comforting (it feels like a hug!), is one of the biggest reasons why I wear it so much. Then there’s the style: a classic silhouette with a quarter-zip closure that exudes the cool elegance that has become synonymous with Jenni Kayne. I opted for the color “Undyed Stone,” a wear-with-everything taupe that lends itself well to myriad outfits—from blue jeans to trousers and silky skirts.
Although expensive, it’s over-delivered in cost-per-wear. Since receiving it in November, I’ve worn it 12 times for about eight hours per day. According to my calculations, it has cost me $5.15 per hour of wear—and if factoring in the discount of nearly $100 off, only $4.12 per hour of wear. And trust me, I’ll be wearing it much more than that, so it basically pays for itself.
It’s also become my default cover-up for my 9-to-5. It’s perfect for when I want to wear “real clothes” without the stuffiness of corporate office attire. It offers just enough structure to give me some semblance of decorum during Zoom calls with my boss but it demands little to nothing of me; it hangs off the body just so.
Considering how often I wear my Jenni Kayne sweater, I’m impressed that it’s held up so well. There has been no pilling or snags, despite my cat having also fallen in love with its plushness—claws and all. It’s managed to maintain its shape, which is perfectly oversized to accommodate layers underneath when the weather calls for an outfit that’s plenty warm.
Yes, it’s pricey, but it’s worth every penny. Snag your own for 20 percent off right now through December 24, or any of these other cozy must-haves.
