After Delta’s recent announcement of major changes to the Medallion Status program, Alaska Airlines debuted a targeted status match opportunity to attempt to win over flyers that were displeased with Delta’s changes.
Now, JetBlue has followed suit, and is offering its own lucrative status match offer, cheekily titled “Mosaic on the DL”, that specifically targets disgruntled Delta passengers.
From now until October 31, 2023, Delta Medallion Status holders can status match to JetBlue Mosaic status, which can be extended without flying. This limited-time offer is capped at 30,000 applicants, so if you stand to benefit, be sure to act sooner rather than later.
JetBlue’s Targeted Status Match Offer for Delta Medallion Members
Delta Air Lines recently announced sweeping negative changes to the Medallion Status program, which included making status much more difficult to qualify for as of 2024.
In response, JetBlue has announced a generous status match campaign that specifically targets Delta’s elite members who aren’t happy with the new changes.
The status match opportunity is available for Delta SkyMiles members who currently hold any tier of Medallion Status that expires in 2023 or 2024.
Depending on your level of Delta status, you’ll be matched to a corresponding tier of JetBlue Mosaic status, set out as follows:
- Delta Silver Medallion members will be matched to JetBlue Mosaic 1
- Delta Gold Medallion members will be matched to JetBlue Mosaic 2
- Delta Platinum Medallion members will be matched to JetBlue Mosaic 3
- Delta Diamond Medallion members will be matched to JetBlue Mosaic 4
Depending on the tier of JetBlue Mosaic status to which you’re matched, you’ll enjoy a suite of benefits, such as:
- Two free checked bags, priority airport services, and Even More Space seat upgrades at check-in (subject to availability) at Mosaic 1
- All of the above, plus Even More Space seats at the time of booking and more at Mosaic 2
- All of the above, plus four Mint upgrade vouchers and more at Mosaic 3
- All of the above, plus two more Mint upgrade vouchers, four one-way Blade helicopter transfers in New York, and more at Mosaic 4
The full breakdown of benefits of JetBlue TrueBlue Mosaic status can be found on the JetBlue website.
If the match is confirmed, you’ll enjoy JetBlue status through to December 30, 2023.
To extend it through to the end of 2024, one option is to complete a status challenge by December 30, 2023.
JetBlue uses “tiles” for status qualification, which are earned in one of two ways:
- Earn one tile per $100 (all figures in USD) spent with JetBlue, including flights, car rentals, cruises, and vacation packages
- Earn one tile per $1,000 spent on an eligible JetBlue co-branded credit card
To extend JetBlue status through 2024 by earning tiles, you’ll need to complete the following challenge by December 30, 2023:
- Delta Silver Medallion members must earn at least six tiles to extend Mosaic 1
- Delta Gold Medallion members must earn at least 12 tiles to extend Mosaic 2
- Delta Platinum Medallion members must earn at least 24 tiles to extend Mosaic 3
- Delta Diamond Medallion members must earn at least 30 tiles to extend Mosaic 4
Alternatively, you can extend your status through 2024 by simply applying and being approved for a JetBlue co-branded credit card by the end of 2023. This is much easier than the status challenge route, which would require you to spend $600–3,000 to extend your status.
Since there is a cap of 30,000 applications for this status match, it’s worth submitting yours sooner rather than later, in case it fills up. Then, apply and be approved for a JetBlue credit card by the end of the year, and you can then give JetBlue a try until the end of 2024 with extra benefits.
How to Status Match from Delta Medallion to JetBlue Mosaic
If you’d like to take advantage of this JetBlue Mosaic status match opportunity, you’ll need to complete the following steps, which shouldn’t take too long.
First, you need to have a valid JetBlue TrueBlue number, which can be obtained by signing up for a free account.
Next, you’ll have to submit a screenshot of your Delta Medallion Status from your Delta account overview page, which should include your full name, SkyMiles number, current status, progress towards 2024 status, and number of miles flown to earn the status.
Then, submit the screenshot, along with your TrueBlue number and other details, on the status match landing page by October 31, 2023. Keep in mind that there’s a cap of 30,000 applicants for this status match, so you may want to submit the request well in advance of then, in case it fills up.
Once your status match request gets reviewed and approved, you’ll be matched to the equivalent Mosaic status tier, as outlined above.
Then, make sure you have a JetBlue Plus Card or JetBlue Business Card, or complete the status challenge for your tier, by December 30, 2023, to extend your new JetBlue Mosaic status all the way through 2024.
JetBlue Seizes the Opportunity
JetBlue isn’t the first US airline to launch a status match offer that specifically targets Delta passengers, and it likely won’t be the last.
Ever since Delta announced the sweeping changes to its elite status program, as well as cutting perks offered through its suite of American Express co-branded credit cards, reaction from passengers has been very negative.
Last week, Alaska Airlines launched a generous status match opportunity for elite Delta flyers, which is certainly worth considering for passengers based on the West Coast.
However, since Alaska Airlines doesn’t have a particularly strong network in the Eastern United States, it’s less lucrative for travellers outside Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
On the other hand, JetBlue’s primary hub is in New York (JFK), which also happens to be one of Delta’s hubs.
While JetBlue may not have as extensive of a network as Delta, the airlines compete on many domestic routes, as well as to destinations in the Caribbean and some in Europe.
At the Mosaic 3 and 4 tiers, keep in mind that you’d enjoy either four or six Mint upgrade vouchers to use for the rest of 2023, and another batch in 2024.
JetBlue’s Mint Suite features lie-flat seats, and is offered on a handful of flagship routes served by the Airbus A321neo aircraft.
Indeed, this is a very generous status match offer from JetBlue, and if you stand to benefit, it’s absolutely worth pursuing.
Conclusion
JetBlue has launched a new, lucrative status match opportunity that targets travellers with Delta Medallion Status who feel let down by Delta’s recent negative changes to its elite status program.
From now until October 31, 2023, or until the cap of 30,000 applicants is reached, Delta Medallion Status holders can submit a status match request, and enjoy JetBlue TrueBlue Mosaic status until the end of 2023.
Status can be extended through 2024 if members hold a JetBlue co-branded credit card, or by completing a status challenge, before December 30, 2023.
This is a very generous opportunity to enjoy JetBlue Mosaic status for up to 15 months without any flying requirements. If you stand to benefit from the promotion, be sure to submit your application as soon as possible.
