JetBlue, ConocoPhillips and Shell have invested more than $80 million in Avnos, a Los Angeles-based company developing hybrid direct air capture technology for carbon-dioxide removal, Avnos announced Thursday. Avnos did not disclose each company’s individual stakes and said it will use the funds to deliver commercial-ready HDAC units by the end of 2025.
JetBlue has invested in multiple sustainability-focused companies, including Air Company in September 2022and Universal Hydrogen in April 2021. It also has made various commitments to purchase sustainable aviation fuel including from Shell and Fidelis New Energy.
