The Kia Sportage is the most popular vehicle in Ireland in February.
The Irish new car market is up another robust 9.8% year-on-year in February to 13,140 sales, leading to a year-to-date tally up 9.3% to 40,455. Toyota (+2.9%) is a little more shy than the market but resists in first place with 13% share. It distances Volkswagen (+72.1%) compensating for a particularly drab year-ago performance at 10.8% share, and overtaking Hyundai (-18%) in trouble. Dacia (+248.9%) scores by far the biggest year-on-year uptick in the Top 10 and ranks at #9. BMW (+47.5%) and Ford (+10.9%) also impress while further down, Cupra (+536.4%), DS (+150%), Land Rover (+126.8%) and Porsche (+126.1%) stand out.
The Kia Sportage (+3.4%) takes the lead of the models charts with 5.3% share, toppling a Hyundai Tucson (-23.3%) in difficulty. The Tucson however remains by far the best-selling vehicle in the country year-to-date. The VW ID.4 (+178.6%) spectacularly progresses to #3 and now ranks #9 YTD while the Toyota RAV4 (+50.8%) and Dacia Duster (+581%) complete the Top 5 in fantastic fashion. In fact the 8 best-selling models this month in Ireland are all SUVs, and 9 in the Top 10. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 (+1.4%) points its bonnet at #6 ahead of the Toyota Yaris Cross (+95.7%) and C-HR (stable). The Skoda Octavia (-28.9%) is the only car in the Top 10 at #9 and the Skoda Kodiaq (-32.3%) follows.
