Mindy Gledhill is a talented singer, songwriter, and producer from Utah, known for her distinct vocals carrying her folksy story-telling prowess. Recently, Mindy dropped a mesmerizing video for her track “Long Distance Lullaby” from her latest album, “The Phone Booth Sessions Vol. 1,” a project that marks an exciting new chapter in her artistic evolution, filled with love songs that celebrate her inner child.
In “Long Distance Lullaby,” Mindy Gledhill creates a soothing atmosphere, capturing a moment of self-acceptance as she tenderly connects with her younger self, liberated from the constraints of external judgment. This introspection, growth, and emotional resilience theme flows throughout the album.
The accompanying video is a charming DIY project filmed using an old Canon once belonging to her parents. It features Mindy at the piano—her creative sanctuary—singing to her younger self, portrayed by her niece, Olivia, within a vintage phone booth that no doubt takes after the album’s title. The whole video is a whirlwind of tender emotions lovingly shot by Mindy herself with the most hands-on love in the world.
The video’s imagery evokes the iconic time machine from Doctor Who, where the vintage phone booth becomes a portal to the past. Just as the TARDIS transports its travelers through time and space, Mindy’s phone booth invites viewers to explore the depths of memory and emotion.
Earlier singles from “The Phone Booth Sessions Vol. 1”, including a cover of The Cranberries’ classic “Dreams,” have already garnered over 300,000 views on YouTube. With its release set for September 17, this album represents Mindy’s seventh full-length project and her debut as a co-producer.
Back in 2019, her album Rabbit Hole explored Mindy’s departure from the Mormon faith. Her subsequent mental health journey led her to the concept of “Inner Child Work” with her therapist. Life’s many twists and turns found Mindy staring at the aforementioned vintage phone booth in an antique store, and the rest, as they say, is history (in the making!).
“What if I could transform that phone booth into a vocal booth, allowing me to connect with my younger self and record the songs she longed for?”
In addition to her solo work, Mindy Gledhill is the founder of “The Forge Collective,” a creative hub in Provo where creatives in different artistic mediums rent studio spaces. Her impressive career includes collaborations with notable artists, such as Kaskade on the Grammy-nominated album “Fire & Ice”, and appearances on popular TV shows like “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Dancing with the Stars”. With a #1 single in Korea and sold-out performances across Japan and the U.S., Mindy is a force to be reckoned with in the music world.
With “Long Distance Lullaby,” Mindy Gledhill invites listeners on a soothing journey of self-discovery and emotional exploration. The enchanting visuals and her heartfelt lyrics create a nostalgic experience that resonates deeply, solidifying her place as a vital voice in contemporary music. As The Phone Booth Sessions Vol. 1 unfolds, fans can expect even more beautiful stories and melodies that celebrate the magic of childhood and the power of self-acceptance.
