‘On The Scene With MARGIE PLUS’ at LA Pride In The Park 2023
Over the weekend thousands of members from the LGBTQIA+ community and allies came together at the Los Angeles State Historic Park for two days of the most sought after pride concerts in the country. It is a place where like minded individuals get to come together and truly be themselves!
The multi-stage concert experience hosted by Christopher Street West Association (CSW) – the 501(c)3 nonprofit that’s produced the iconic LA Pride celebration for more than 50 years to celebrate Pride month. Attendees were greeted with bursts of color that led them to a plethora of activations, F&B vendors, activities, dancing, and of course world-renowned performances.
Megan Thee Stallion, Friday night’s headliner on the Main Stage, shimmered head to toe in a crystal bodysuit. She performed her biggest hits including “Savage” and “Body.” The multi-GRAMMY Award-winner invited fans onto the stage for a dance off and even joined in on the fun. She continued to keep the crowd electric as she moved across the stage while fans sang every lyric to her songs. She later delivered an inspiring speech about self-acceptance which fans praised. She concluded her performance with a powerful visual as she posed centerstage with her dances surrounding her, fists in the air as they stood in front of a giant screen that displayed the Pride flag.
Additional performances throughout the day on the Main Stage included Fletcher, Symone, Gigi Goode, Dorian Electra, The Scarlet Opera,G Flip, Foudeqush, Saturn Risin9, and The Iconic House of Miyake-Mugler + Friends. The All Out Stage featured performances from The Party By Ostbahnhof, Miki Ratsula, Jeffrey Eli, Codi Smith, and Pain Behavior.
Saturday night’s headliner on the Main Stage was icon Mariah Carey. Carey lit up the stage with her iconic vocals, performing a wide range of songs from her catalog including “Fantasy,” “Heartbreaker,” “Obsessed,” and a medley of The Emancipation of Mimi (“It’s Like That,” “Shake it Off,” and “We Belong Together”). The crowd was mesmerized with eye-popping visuals including dancers on stilts, a neon convertible, a giant inflatable unicorn, and dancers dressed reminiscent of Tom of Finland. During her performance, she stopped to make a Mean Girls reference, hoping to tear a piece of her crown to share with everyone. She concluded her set with a touching encore of “Hero,” which moved the crowd to tears and a warmth of love.
Additional performances throughout the day on the Main Stage included King Princess, Violet Chachki, Gottmik, Sasha Colby, JENEVIEVE, VINCINT, Alex Chapman, Mad Tsai, Minke, Ah Mer Ah Su, Bobby Newberry, and The Iconic House of Ninja + Friends. The All Out Stage featured performances from A Club Called Rhonda, Emeryld, Neyva, Lyle Anthony, Chanel Jolé, Soltera, and The Mannequins.
In addition to first-in-class entertainment, fest-goers were treated to surprise appearances on the Main Stage by Trace Lysette, Johnny Sibilly, Emma Hunton, Maia Mitchell, and others.
Additional celebs that came out to support included Queen Latifah, Cara Delevingne, Hannah Einbinder, Aisha Tyler, Matt Rogers, Niecy Nash and Jessica Betts, Jacqueline Toboni and Gigi Gorgeous.
Some of my favorite moments included Board President Gerald Garth and The Iconic House Of Miyake Mugler kicking off the days festivities with a pop up ball serving FACE. Minke on the main stage playing drums (super well I might add) with a set of dildos while her girlfriend Cara Delevingne and I danced our hearts out in the pit. Vincents powerful performance where they jumped off the stage to the audience and performed front row.
The Scarlet Opera serving major Queen vibes and slaying the stage with singer Luka’s undeniable charisma. Fletcher calling not only Bella Thorne to the stage but also friend Tove Lo, who flashed the crowd her breasts during the amazing ‘Talking Body’ song performance. Megan The Stallion calling for not two but three twerk contest with the fans. Two thirds of the Selling Sunset cast dancing their ass off during Chrishell Stause girlfriend G Flip’s awesome set. And of course I couldn’t forget to mention Mariah Careys iconic performance proving she never left the game and MiMi is here to stay!
Stay tuned for the next Margie Plus ‘On The Scene’ and don’t forget that you can be whoever you want to be and love whoever you want to love!
