The Liberal government has withdrawn controversial amendments to firearms Bill C-21 that would have prohibited hundreds of hunting guns.
The Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security voted unanimously to withdraw amendments G4 and G46 on Friday, Feb. 3.
The amendments would have created a legal definition of “assault-style” guns and banned a list of more than 3,000 firearms, including certain semi-automatic centre-fire rifles and shotguns popular with hunters.
