The Lynk & Co 01 manages its first ever monthly win in the world.
The Dutch new car market surges 23.8% year-on-year in February to 28,128 registrations. This brings the year-to-date volume up 13.5% to 60,822 units. Kia (-8.2%) returns to the brands top spot it held over the Full Year 2022 despite a significant year-on-year loss. Hyundai (+33.4%) is up seven ranks on last month to #2 while Volkswagen (+41.3%), leader in January, ranks #3. Opel (+67.3%), Ford (+58.8%), Renault (+49.4%) and Volvo (+25.4%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas BMW (-20.1%), Toyota (-11%) and Peugeot (-4.4%) struggle. Below, Tesla (+773.5%), MG (+324.7%), Lynk & Co (+197.6%), Mitsubishi (+166.4%), Dacia (+160.8%), Seat (+118.1%) and Mazda (+86.4%) shine.
Model-wise, we have one of the worldwide events of the month here in the Netherlands: the Lynk & Co 01 (+197.6%) is up 3-fold year-on-year to take the overall lead of the charts both for the month and year-to-date. After the MG HS in the UK in January, the 01 is the second Chinese model to dominate a major European market. It is also its first pole position anywhere in the world. The Chinese have truly landed in Europe. The Opel Corsa (+143%) and Volvo XC40 (+23.2%) complete the podium above the Ford Focus (+52.3%) and Tesla Model Y (+920.3%). Leader over the Full Year 2022, the Peugeot 208 (+5.4%) has to settle for #6 this month just ahead of the Peugeot 2008 (-4.7%). The Hyundai Tucson (+81.4%) is up 14 ranks on December to #8 and the Toyota Aygo X remains the most popular recent launch at #10.
