The Opel Corsa holds 10% of the Greek market in January.
The Greek new car market surges 90.7% year-on-year in January to 10,532 units. Remember January 2022 was off -28.9% on the year prior. Opel (+158.8%) spectacularly takes the lead of the brands ranking for the first time in almost 10 years: since September 2013, and scores a stellar 13.2% share vs. 5.5% over the Full Year 2022. It topples a very shy Toyota (+17.3%) at 11.1% vs. 14.1% while Hyundai (+110.1%) beats the market at #3. Citroen (+302.3%) sees its sales soar 4-fold on its year-ago volume and climbs four spots on December to #4 with 9.8% share vs. #11 and 3.8% over FY2022. The rest of the Top 10 brands all outpace the market, with Ford (+390.5%) the most dynamic above Suzuki (+205.3%), Peugeot (+190.2%), Kia (+160.1%), Volkswagen (+146.8%) and Renault (+121.3%).
Model-wise, the Opel Corsa (+292.2%) is the overall best-seller with a round 10% share vs. 3% over FY2022. It is followed by the Citroen C3 (+334.5%) and Toyota Yaris (+101.3%). In fact and rather strikingly, the entire Top 14 models grow faster than the market. The Hyundai i20 (+694%) is up eight spots on December to #4, the Hyundai i10 (+165%) is up 57 to #5, the Peugeot 208 up 53 to #6 and the Peugeot 2008 (+932.3%) up 88 to #7. The Citroen C3 Aircross (+522.2%), Peugeot 3008 (+509.8%), VW T-Cross (+503.3%) and Renault Clio (+471.8%) also score surreal gains below.
