Matcha Inexperienced Tea Smoothie – A Stunning Mess

Have you tried Matcha Green Tea in a smoothie? If not, you’re going to love this Matcha Smoothie recipe! Like our Coffee Smoothie, a matcha smoothie is a great way to add a little caffeine for a healthy energy boost.

High quality matcha is very bright green and filled with antioxidants. I love making this recipe as an afternoon pick me up or in place of a second cup of coffee. It’s healthy and tastes so good!

More delicious smoothies: Banana Smoothie, Blueberry Smoothie, Watermelon Smoothie, Dragon Fruit Smoothie, Date Shake, and Orange Julius.

Ingredients in a Matcha Smoothie

  • Matcha – I love using MatchaBar ceremonial grade matcha for all my matcha recipes.
  • Milk – Use any type of milk you have on hand. I used almond milk.
  • Greek Yogurt – You can use any kind of yogurt. I love adding Greek yogurt for adding a little protein to my smoothies.
  • Frozen Banana – Using a frozen banana eliminates the need to add ice to your smoothie and you will get the added benefits of potassium and magnesium.
  • Honey – Honey is the perfect sweetener for matcha and it blends so well with the flavor.
  • Whipped Cream – Add whipped cream as an optional topper.

How to Make a Green Tea Smoothie

In a blender, combine all the ingredients including Greek yogurt, frozen banana, milk, honey, and matcha.

Blend until smooth.

Taste test your smoothie and if you want to add more sweetness, you can add a bit more honey.

Serve immediately and add whipped cream to the top if you like!

How to Choose High Quality Matcha

  • High quality matcha is bright green in color and has a less bitter taste.
  • It’s worth the money to choose a high quality matcha. It’s normal for it to cost $20 or more for a small amount of matcha.
  • Matcha recipes always need some sort of sweetener—my favorite is honey or agave.
  • I use the brand MatchaBar, which you can purchase on Amazon.
