Membership Eurostar is working an enormous sale on rewards seats proper now

Eurostar is currently running a huge Club Eurostar reward seat sale, covering dates throughout 2024 with some very generous discounts.

The sale will run until 5 p.m. on Feb. 16. It offers travel dates through Nov. 3. In addition to Eurostar services, you can also book travel on ex-Thalys services within Europe for travel dates through Sept. 7.

There is, however, one frustrating snag: The ability to transfer American Express Membership Rewards to Club Eurostar (usually a 15:1 transfer rate) is currently down. This means that, right now, only those already sitting on Club Eurostar points can take advantage of the sale.

The promising news is that Eurostar is currently working on a fix to allow Amex transfers, which it hopes to have live before the promotion ends. The good news — at least for Eurostar loyalists — is that if you’re currently sitting on Club Eurostar points, you have much less competition redeeming them at a discount in the sale.

You can redeem your points for any train traveling any day during the sale period, provided that there are still cash seats available to book.

Note that Club Eurostar redemptions cannot be canceled, only changed.

If you have tier status with Eurostar that entitles you to a companion voucher, you can also redeem this at the promotional rate during the sale. You can add the companion voucher to your tickets after booking as well. However, note that fares booked with a companion voucher are nonexchangeable and nonrefundable.

Sample redemptions

While the sale timing will likely irk some Amex cardholders (at least, until transfers are fixed), we can’t deny that the discounts are substantial.

Destinations from London include Paris; Brussels; Amsterdam; Lille, France; and Rotterdam, Netherlands. There’s currently plenty of availability throughout the sale travel dates.

The sale redemptions are as follows:

Routes to/from London

  • Standard value fare: 600 Club Eurostar points each way (normally 1,000 points)
  • Standard anytime fare: 900 Club Eurostar points each way (normally 1,500 points)
  • Standard Premier value fare: 1,200 Club Eurostar points each way (normally 2,000 points)
  • Standard Premier anytime fare: 1,500 Club Eurostar points each way (normally 2,500 points)
  • Business Premier anytime fare: 1,800 Club Eurostar points each way (normally 3,000 points)

Ex-Thalys routes

  • Standard value fare: 600 Club Eurostar points each way (normally 1,000 points)
  • Comfort value fare: 1,200 Club Eurostar points each way (normally 2,000 points)
  • Premium value fare: 1,800 Club Eurostar points each way (normally 3,000 points)

Should Amex transfers be fixed before the sale ends, you can transfer American Express Membership Rewards points for a 15:1 transfer rate. This means you can expect to redeem 18,000 American Express Membership Rewards points for a standard return ticket, 36,000 points for a Standard Premier return ticket and 54,000 points for a Business Premier ticket.

Bottom line

To our knowledge, this is the first time Club Eurostar has ever run a points sale, and who knows when it will run another one. If you have a bunch of Club Eurostar points, this is a great time to redeem them.

If you don’t have enough Club Eurostar points but are rich in American Express Membership Rewards points, sit tight: Eurostar said it’s working on a fix that will be live before the sale ends.
