A Mercedes-Benz dealer in Melbourne has defended itself against claims a customer posted to TikTok about being charged for an “engine oil and filter change” for an all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQA.
The driver of the compact electric SUV took to the social platform to share his thoughts about the “bloody” expensive service from 3 Point Motors Mercedes-Benz in Melbourne’s north.
The invoice he was originally provided by the service centre showed an incorrect item line on the service breakdown – after questioning the total cost of $700, the driver realised the invoice included a line item “perform engine oil and filter change” for $445.89.
Upon bringing it up with the service centre, a typo was identified. The dealership claims it attempted to rectify the issue, however the driver refused to accept an updated invoice and instead took to share the one-sided experience on social media.
According to 3 Point Motors: “A valued member of the 3 Point Motors team accidentally selected the wrong job code when printing the invoice for the Electric Vehicle Servicing”.
“This was an innocent mistake that was discovered when the driver came to collect the vehicle and in no way did it alter the pricing or actual works performed.”
“We apologised and attempted to re-issue the correct invoice on the spot, but the driver advised he didn’t want it rectified,” the dealer spokesperson continued.
“We have since been in contact with the actual registered owner of the vehicle and provided them the correct invoice information.”

Mercedes-Benz launched the EQA in Australia in 2021. The Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 has a single motor, front-wheel drive powertrain with 140kW of power and 375Nm of torque.
Mercedes-Benz also offers an EQA 350 variant with a dual-motor, all-wheel drive powertrain with 215kW and 520Nm.
Both models have a 66.5kWh battery.
