Methods to get from Orly Airport to the Paris metropolis heart

Paris is the second-most searched-for destination by Americans this year, owing in no small part to its romantic cityscapes, unrivaled cuisine, that small thing known as the Eiffel Tower and the fact that the city will be hosting the Olympics later this year.

While many visitors will travel to Paris via Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), the city also has another hub: Paris-Orly Airport (ORY).

Here, TPG breaks down your best options for getting from ORY to the center of Paris, whether you’re looking to take a train, bus or taxi.

Flying into CDG? Don’t worry, we have you covered: Check out this guide instead.

How to get to the city center from Orly

Compared to CDG, Orly has more limited train services to the center of Paris. Generally speaking, depending on where you need to end up, the easiest option may very well be to take a bus or cab. However, there are some train and bus options as well.

Taking the train from Orly

There are no direct train lines that run to the center of Paris. Instead, you must first take an Orlyval service to the Antony station. There are two Orlyval stations that service the airport: Orly 1-2-3 and Orly 4.

Beyond this, you can also take SNCF, Ouigo and TER trains from Paris Montparnasse, which is around 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) from Orly.

Orly to Gare du Nord

First, you’ll need to take the Orlyval service to Antony; once there, swap to an RER B train to head straight to Gare du Nord. The journey should take around one hour.

Orly to Gare de l’Est

Hop on the Orlyval to Antony, and from there, take the RER B train to Chatelet Les Halles; then, you can change to the Metro line 4 to reach Gare de l’Est.

Orly to Gare d’Austerlitz

Take the T7 tram from Orly to La Fraternelle. Once there, you’ll need to take a short walk to the station at Rungis-la-Fraternelle and catch the RER C to Gare d’Austerlitz.

Orly to Gare Saint-Lazare

There’s no direct train from Orly to Gare Saint-Lazare. You can, however, take a Metro from Orly 4 to Haussmann Saint-Lazare via Gare d’Antony and Magenta. The trip will take about 50 minutes.

Orly to Gare Montparnasse

You can reach Gare Montparnasse in about 39 minutes by taking the Orlyval to Antony, then the RER B line to either Denfert-Rochereau or Port-Royal. Montparnasse is a short walk from there.

Taking the bus from Orly

You can take the direct shuttle bus service — the Orlybus — to Place Denfert-Rochereau, in the city center. The journey should take roughly 30 minutes. Beyond this, there are also several public buses that may be cheaper (though they will also take much longer).

Taking a taxi or ride-hailing service from Orly

You can easily find taxi stands outside each of Orly Airport’s terminals. From there, you’ll usually be charged a flat rate to the city center — 35 euros ($37.99) to the Left Bank and 41 euros ($44.50) to the Right Bank. If you’re traveling with more than four people, you’ll likely be charged a little extra.

How to reach Disneyland Paris from Orly

There are no direct bus or train services between Orly and Disneyland Paris. The journey will involve multiple changes and take you well over an hour to reach the park.

Instead, taking a taxi or ride-hailing service is by far the fastest and easiest way to reach Disneyland Paris from Orly Airport. The journey takes about 33 minutes and costs between 75 euros ($81.44) and 98 euros ($106.42)

Bottom line

While Orly Airport isn’t quite as convenient for its transport options as CDG, you can still easily get from the airport into the Parisian center. You can even reach Disneyland relatively quickly, depending on your budget and time.
