MG Motor Australia has confirmed pricing for the entry-level MG 4 and the entire ZS EV range have increased by up to $2000.
“The pricing adjustments for MG 4 and ZS EV are a result of different external factors such as a rise in raw material costs, shipping costs and currency fluctuations,” an MG Motor Australia spokesperson told CarExpert.
These price increases are applicable for current MY23 and incoming MY24 stock.
We’ve contacted MG Motor Australia to confirm from what date the price rises came into effect, and if existing orders are price-protected.
New South Wales buyers will now see drive-away prices reflect stamp duty, from which they were previously exempt until the NSW Government ceased this incentive on December 31, 2023.
Customers who have already placed a deposit on an electric vehicle before January 1, 2024 will have until June 30, 2024 to claim the stamp duty exemption.
The MG 4 Excite 51kWh was Australia’s cheapest EV for a few days earlier this year, before BYD announced pricing for its Dolphin. The entry-level Premium undercut the entry-level MG 4 by just $100.
