Mini Electrical value slashed by $20k for Australia

Mini is gearing up to replace the current Electric Hatch in Australia, and is offering the outgoing model with a sharp drive-away price.

The Resolute Edition and Mini Yours specifications are being offered for $49,990 drive-away between now and December 31, 2023 – or until stock runs out.

That represents a near-$20,000 discount relative to the $63,990 before on-roads (~$69,000 drive-away) you would have paid for the Resolute Edition earlier in 2023.

It’s also down around $12,000 on the ~$61,500 drive-away you would have paid for the base Mini Electric Hatch Classic earlier in 2023.

The runout Mini Electric now rubs shoulders with the BYD Dolphin Premium (~$47,650 drive-away) and GWM Ora Extended Range (~$48,835 drive-away) based on its price.

Mini has confirmed production for the outgoing Electric has already ended, meaning anyone keen on the car will need to source one that’s in stock (or will soon be coming into stock) with a dealer.

Power in the Mini Electric comes from a 135kW/270Nm front motor, mated with a 32.6kWh battery pack good for a claimed 233km of range.

It’ll be replaced by the new Mini Cooper Electric in the third quarter of 2024.

With two models, an all-new design, and a thoroughly modern interior, it’s gunning for the Fiat 500e that’s just touched down in Australia.

  • The Mini Cooper E has a 135kW/290Nm electric motor.
    • The 0-100km/h sprint takes a claimed 7.3 seconds
    • Claimed range is 305 kilometres on the WLTP test cycle
  • The Mini Cooper SE has a 160kW/330Nm electric motor
    • The 0-100km/h sprint takes a claimed 6.7 seconds
    • Claimed range is 402 kilometres on the WLTP test cycle

Both models will be offered in Australia. Pricing and final specifications haven’t been confirmed.
