Solo Stove is no longer content merely to warm your hands — now the brand wants to cook your meat, too. The brand known for its smokeless fire pits has begun diversifying its portfolio in recent years, often with accessories that enable various forms of cooking.

After adding options for pizza ovens, iron woks, or grills placed directly on top of the fire pits, Solo Stove just dropped a Cookout Kit that offers an upgraded setup for outdoor chefs.

Launched on October 15, the design aims to balance portability and capability. It turns the Bonfire 2.0 Fire Pit (sold separately) into a portable charcoal grill. In GearJunkie’s 2022 review, we called the Bonfire 2.0 “one of the best smokeless fire pits there is.”

This $300 kit upgrades this popular design with a charcoal adaptor, kit frame, and the option to choose between a grill or griddle. (They’re also sold separately, so you can also snag both if you’re looking to cook both steaks and pancakes.)

You can also jazz up the appearance later this fall when Solo Stove will introduce NFL team logo customizations to personalize the grill kit for tailgating, the brand said. Hopefully, we’ll get our hands on this for further testing. Until then, here’s what we know so far.

Solo Stove Cookout Kit: Details

You could already buy grills and griddles for your Solo Stove, so it’s really the charcoal adaptor and kit frame that make this unique. As any grill master knows, you need to have some table space if you’re going to avoid dropping tasty food on the ground.

The brand said the Cookout Kit has foldable legs and side shelves, which should allow for easy transport and setup. The foldable frame supports cooking at either ground level or standing height.

The charcoal adapter supposedly allows for efficient briquette cooking and is compatible with Solo Stove’s preseasoned cast iron cooktops. Once you’re done cooking and everything has cooled off, you can convert the system back to a fire pit.

Both the new components of the Cookout Kit use corrosion-resistant steel with electrophoretic and powder-coated finishes.

In other words, users can still burn wood by removing the charcoal adapter. While the kit’s design is compatible with some Solo Stove accessories, like the Shield, Lid, and Pi Fire, it won’t work with the Surround or Surround Lite. Solo Stove said the shelves on the frame will stay at a comfortable temperature, even with the fire pit operating at full heat.

A cover for the kit is not yet available, but Solo Stove has plans to offer one in the future. The Cookout Kit also comes with Solo Stove’s lifetime warranty. Order one now, and it will be shipped out by October 21. Remember: You must own or buy a Bonfire 2.0 Fire Pit to use the kit.

Stay tuned for a review in the near future.
