My lashes have always been a struggle. They’re short and extremely curly, so even the most lengthening mascaras don’t do much to change their appearance. Instead of trying to fake length, I’ve learned that I get more of a dramatic effect when I lean into volumizing formulas. And the latest launch from Thrive Causemetics is my current favorite.

Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Volumizer Mascara ($25) is a new volumizing mascara that’s made with the brand’s proprietary Power Peptide Lash Booster, a blend of three peptides that deeply conditions each lash to encourage fullness and length. It also has sodium hyaluronate and organic pea sprout extract to nourish your lashes. These ingredients and more come together in a long-lasting, flake-free product.

As good as this formula is, when it comes to appearance, I find that the brush matters way more than what’s in the mascara. Thrive’s Lift + Curl Dual-Bristle Brush is made with a blend of long and short bristles to separate lashes and coat them with product so you get a super fluffy look.

It’s available in both black and brown. Below, I’m wearing the black option on just my left eye (top and bottom lashes) and you can really see how it adds so much interest to my eyes. It makes my lashes actually visible and I’m obsessed. The brown option is perfect if you don’t want a more natural look, especially if have lighter hair.

I’m wearing the new Thrive volumizing mascara on my left eye and nothing on my right eye.

The Thrive Causemetics Volumizer Mascara seriously delivers. Because my lashes are short, I feel like they’re invisible without mascara. And if I use mascara that clumps, I’m left looking like I have three lashes. This mascara separates them evenly so each one can shine.

If you’re looking for length and volume, Thrive Causemtics founder Karissa Bodnar recommends putting this mascara on first and then adding a layer of Thrive’s Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara ($25). To get a teensy bit of length without switching products, I follow the advice I got years ago from celebrity makeup artist Camara Aunique to first apply her mascara to each eye, from root to tip. Then, to add a second coat, begin to add the mascara at the tip of the lashes, and then work down to the root, to lengthen and draw out the lashes.

To define your lashes and get a bold and fluffy look, the Thrive Causemetics Volumizer Mascara is exactly what your makeup bag needs.
