Sustainable aviation fuel producer Neste has launched a new “book-and-claim” SAF “emission-reduction” solution for corporations, the company announced Monday.
Dubbed “Neste Impact,” businesses can purchase SAF from Neste to reduce the carbon footprint of their air travel and transport activities. It is aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative, according to Neste.
Neste ensures that SAF is supplied to a partner airline and the purchased amount is verifiably used to replace fossil fuel. After the SAF has been used, the corporation receives a third-party verified report, enabling it to report the achieved emissions savings.
The SAF volumes sold are not used to meet fuel mandates or other similar regulatory requirements on SAF use, Neste said. Instead, “they provide additional emission reductions in aviation.”
This offering follows the Avelia “book-and-claim” platform from American Express Global Business Travel and partners Shell and Accenture introduced in June 2022.
