When I’ve watched other bloggers build or renovate, I’m always chanting through my screen- Show. Me. EVERYTHING! 😍 Yet now I found myself on the other side and feel a little odd sharing house stuff, like… does anyone even care to see this?
I’m certainly no designer, but it’s been really fun going through this process. Stressful at times, but with the help of our building team, input from friends with a eye for design, and trusting our own guts for knowing what we like, it’s been an incredible experience getting to watch our plans go from sketches to popping off the page into real life. I’m grateful for this experience and excited to share some updates from our visit last week. First, some basics that may or may not be helpful- paint and cabinets.
::The only photos I have at this point are iPhone pictures, so colors may be a little wonky::
The general vibe I am going for: natural, warm, sunlit, timeless, welcoming, peaceful

The Kitchen
You should probably build up to your favorite spaces, but I’m going to start with the heart of the home. The cabinets in this space game me fits for months. Initially I wanted to go with a deep green color, and while I’m sure they would have been beautiful, ultimately I decided I’m a classic kind of girl and wood is something I know I’ll love forever.
Still, I held my breath until I saw them installed, and when I did, I teared up with joy. We are still waiting for the uppers (to be installed after cabinets) along the left wall, but I love them. I can picture so much life happening in this kitchen and can’t wait to cook and bake all the things in this space.

The Scullery
A space named by our builder after I described my dream of an oversized butler’s pantry with lots of shelving for all my gadgets, the scullery might be one of the spaces for which I’m most excited. This space will house my appliances as well as my countertop herb garden and coffee machine. It will have an extra dishwasher for larger gathering clean up and another sink for prep space.

The Homeschool Room
Oh, this space! Each girls will have a nook with their computer desks and a bulletin board. We’ll expand our former kitchen table under the window to provide us a large workspace for projects and crafts. I’m hoping we can build some shelves for all the Legos sets we are attempting to safely transport (lol- we shall see).

The Girls’ Rooms
The move has felt like a long time coming, so the girls have had time to think through it and honestly, I think they are doing really well with it. When trying to sell our last home in 2020, we painted the interior of our house the recommended gray with gray accent walls. The girls found it terribly dull so they were thrilled when we told them they could pick out their own room colors for the new place. They got to see them for the first time last week and it was so cute! Can you guess whose is whose?

The Mountains
I love the water, but I have always felt most at peace and connected in the mountains. The idea that I’ll get to see the mountains everyday has me truly giddy. This view is what made us fall in love with this piece of land and knowing I’ll have space for a garden and chickens and to just to be this close to the mountains?! My goodness; it’s a dream come true.
Also, we’ll have a TV above the fireplace and I’m dreaming of the thought of a cool fall day, a fire in the fireplace, and my Georgia bulldogs on the big screen…
There are more details like tile selections and light fixtures to share as they come along. We are hoping to be in by November and each day earlier than that I’ll be thrilled! Trying not to get my hopes up, but also really looking forward to finally feeling settled as a family.
