New light vehicle sales in Bahrain edge down -2.5% in 2022 to 24,082 units. Toyota (-14.7%) fares poorly and sees its market share thaw from 36.7% last year to 32.2%, still very dominant however. Nissan (-5.6%) also loses some share at 11.2%, 0.4 percentage point lower. Hyundai (+1%) ensures the brands podium is unchanged on 2021. Isuzu (+2.6%) is also in positive and gains one spot to #4. Changan (+47.5%), MG (+44.7%) and Mitsubishi (+26.3%) post the largest year-on-year gains in the Top 10 while further down Haval (+88.2%), Genesis (+57.9%) and Chevrolet (+56.1%) also stand out.
Model-wise, the Nissan Sunny (+27.3%) and Isuzu TF (-0.9%) leapfrog past the Toyota Land Cruiser (-53.6%) hit full frontal this year. The rest of the Top 10 is entirely composed of Toyotas, with the Camry (+9.2%), RAV4 (+7.6%) and Hiace (+6.3%) faring best whereas the Yaris (-20.9%), Corolla (-16.7%) and Prado (-9.4%) all in difficulty. Outside the Top 10 the Toyota Corolla Cross (+172.3%), Haval Jolion (+152.2%) and MG ZS (+66.5%) make themselves noticed. The Geely Coolray (#48) is the best-selling launch for the year ahead of the Changan UNI-T (#59) and Changan UNI-K (#76)
