The New South Wales Ryde Police Area Command has posted a Facebook marketplace ad for its final Holden Commodore, and it ticks a lot of boxes for buyers.
The Ryde police said goodbye to their final Holden Commodore last week with a Facebook post saying car RY300 will be retiring after completing 190,000km, with a Hyundai Santa Fe replacement being called up to duty.
Since then comments flooded in with praise for the veteran vehicle including General Motors itself, which commented “Happy Retirement RY300!”
In a rather humorous turn of events, the Ryde Police Area Command posted the Commodore on Facebook Marketplace for sale and other police districts also got involved in the fun.
Of course, only just for fun – the ad has since been deleted – but Ryde Police Area Command describes the car was driven by one elderly female driver to church on Sundays and to Woolworths (alternatively known as Safeway).
The vehicle has 10 months registration, and Ryde Police Area Command claims the vehicle was “never thrashed. Never went over 80km/h” and even comes with full log book history.
It then finished the post with “serious buyers only, I know what I have”.
RY300 may be Ryde police’s last Commodore, but there are still a few around elsewhere in the state.
“NSWPF currently have a limited number of Commodore models in service. The model types utilised are Evoke… and SS V,” a spokesperson from the NSW Police Force told CarExpert.
