Orient Star Releases Restricted Version M42 Diver 1964 2nd Version F6 Date 200m Titanium for sixtieth Anniversary

Limited Edition M42 Diver 1964: Celebrating Orient Star’s 60th Anniversary

Orient Star has proudly unveiled the M42 Diver 1964 2nd Edition F6 Date 200m Titanium, a stunning addition to its renowned Sports Collection M42. This exquisite timepiece is part of a limited run of just 365 pieces, celebrating the 60th anniversary of Orient’s iconic divers’ watch.

M42 Diver 1964 2nd Edition F6 Date 200m Titanium

The latest model artfully reinterprets the classic design elements of the Calendar Auto Orient*1 originally launched in 1964, infusing it with a contemporary flair that enhances its functionality as a modern divers’ watch, tailored to meet high-performance ISO 6425 standards.

Its striking appearance features a unique color palette that harmoniously blends the lightness and durability of titanium with elegant gold-colored accents, creating a visually captivating piece that stands out in a sea of traditional divers’ watches. This combination not only serves aesthetic purposes but also underscores the watch’s robust nature, making it as resilient as it is attractive. The M42 Diver 1964 2nd Edition is not just a timepiece; it is a tribute to the legacy of diving watches, intricately designed for those who appreciate both style and performance.

*1 The original 1964 model does not meet current ISO standards as there were no clear standards for divers’ watches at the time. Discontinued.

Modern, high performance divers’ watches backed by advanced technology take centre stage in the Sports Collection M42, named after the nebula of Orion, the son of Poseidon, god of the sea. The historical roots of the divers’ watch can be found in the Olympia Calendar Diver*2 and Calendar Auto Orient*2 released in 1964, and models such as Diver 1964 1st Edition released in 2021 and M42 Diver 1964 2nd Edition F6 Date 200m released in 2022 have since inherited their genealogy.

The new 60th anniversary model features titanium on the case and bracelet, making it approximately 35 percent lighter than stainless steel models and an ideal divers’ watch for both sports and daily use. The protective coating on the titanium hardens the surface making it strong enough to endure harsh environments. Titanium also offers excellent resistance to corrosion, seawater and sweat, and is considered to be hypoallergenic making it the ideal material for full-fledged divers’ watches.

This toughness to withstand harsh diving environments is paired with a special colour scheme featuring gold-coloured accents in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Orient divers’ watches.  The grey-toned titanium colour and matte finish together with the gold-colour of the limited edition model emphasise its appearance as a diver’s tool. The dark grey dial with vertical hairline finish is adorned with matte gold-coloured accents around the Luminous Light indices that allow the time to be read even in the dark, the border of the hands with hairline finish, and Orient Star logo. Gold colouring with matte finish is also visible on the scale and numbers of the rotating bezel’s aluminium insert. These gold-coloured accents look striking against the grey titanium and give a touch of elegance and new charm to the divers’ watch.

The latest model offers a screw down crown, screw case-back, dual curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, water resistance to 200 metres for scuba diving compliant with the ISO 6425 standard for divers’ watches. The in-house calibre F6N47 provides stable high accuracy and 50-hour power reserve, and indicator which shows the remaining power reserve. Although most Orient Star models come with a power reserve indicator as standard, it is rare to find this feature on divers’ watches.

In a limited edition gold colour and engraved with limited edition and serial number on the case back, the 60th anniversary M42 Diver 1964 2nd Edition F6 Date 200m Titanium model is ideal both for divers’ watch fans and watch aficionados who seek exceptional pieces.
